Dog's Apology Tour: Barking Up the CNN Tree

Duane Dog Chapman continued his tour of contrition last night -- pleading for forgiveness on "Larry King Live," one night after doing the same on "Hannity & Colmes."

During the hour-long conversation, Dog tried his best to keep the apologies coming, at one point he even started to whimper when talking about his wife Beth's reaction to the shameful situation.

TMZ caught Chapman on his way out the door where he gave our camera a message to his fans -- "Please forgive me."

47. Not to make an excuse for him but he works w/the lowest of the low. I had a job that had me working around trashy people (of all colors). Before i knew it i started using racial slurs and talking hatefully about people (i'm not white), once i got out of the job and was around normal people i was okay and back to looking at people equally.

49. When I saw the dog on Hannity's show on Tuesday night, I started to forgive him, but after watching him last night on Larry King Live I am not so sure. It seems that he let his guard down last night and he put much more of a focus on getting his show back on the air. I saw more acting last night and less sincerlty. I also noticed that Duane started to dish out more excuses for his actions rather than taking 100% responsibility. He blamed his time in jail, he blamed his son for betraying him, he blamed his ex-wife, he blamed the National Enquirer and he blamed some so-called knowledge that he thought he had that Tucker's girlfriend was involved in some shadey antics when she in-fact has never been in trouble. It appears to me that he is more remorseful for losing his job than he is for anything else. Also, towards the end of the show when Larry asked him how he waould make this up to the black community he made no mention of the slaves gravesite as did the night before on Hannity's show.

50. You have the United Negro College Fund.

You have Martin Luther King Day.

You have Black History Month.

You have Cesar Chavez Day.

You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.

You Have Yom Hashoah.

You have the NAACP.

And you have BET.

If we had WET

(White Entertainment Television)

... We'd be racists.

Nothing happened to Halle Berry when she talked about Jew noses. Why is that?

51. "Chapman, a former gang member with 18 prior convictions for armed robbery,[2] was sentenced to five years in a Texas prison in 1977 after being convicted of the first degree murder of Jeremy Oliver. According to Chapman, he did not kill anyone but was legally an accessory for not reporting the shooting to the police.[3] He was released on probation after 18 months."

53. Why the hell does anyone need to apologize when black people call themselves N***** all damn day. This is ridiculous. I guess black folk have now begun using racism and discrimination on an as-needed basis.

54. I forgive Dog. His apology does seem sincere. He never said he was perfect and people do slip. He has lived a tough life and it definately shows in his face.

If he doesn't come back on, at least have his son Leland run the show. Leland without his shirt on would be preferred.

55. Beth: "Show me the money".

Smith and Chapman are specific about their major negotiating points: "More money and respect for a winning show," Smith said. "Duane is now the big fish."

Smith and Chapman decline to say how much A&E pays them now, only that "it hasn't been enough," Smith said.

56. When I saw his interview with Hannity and Colmes I couldn't help but think no wonder Tucker, his son , has a prison record-- with a father like this. Nothing like taking attention off off of yourself , as a true racist --and trying push the blame on your son. Beth, his wife must share the same attitude and prejudice as neither Duane or Beth had ever met Tucker's girlfriend and they have been going together for 8 months.

57. The Larry King interview did nothing but make me feel worse toward Dog. His arrogance is still there. In fact, he really did not seem very 'sorry' last night.
He was convicted of MANSLAUGHTER of a black man. Why doesn't someone bring that up? He is a convicted FELON, and cannot carry a gun - just a can of 'bug' spray!
He should not have his show back, and I email A&E everyday to tell them.
