Nick Hogan Crash: A Tale of the Tape

Nick Hogan's camp is trying to turn the tide of public opinion by offering up exclusive new video shot just a few hundred feet from the sensational August 26 crash that left his former Marine buddy in a vegetative state.

The images, captured by a nearby security camera, appear to show Hogan's yellow Toyota Supra and another silver Dodge Viper, driven by pal Daniel Jacobs, stopped at a red light mere seconds before the smash-up. Then, they contend, Jacobs' ride momentarily got stuck behind a stalled car. That could contradict eyewitness reports that the Hogster and his buddy were drag racing.

Nick's attorney, Kevin Hayslett, spoke exclusively to TMZ and told us exactly what he thinks the video proves.

"This video is so important," Hayslett says, "because there are people that law enforcement relied upon who said that Nick was driving a particular way on this particular stretch of road. They are claiming that he was speeding during that time period, driving recklessly, losing control of his car. One witness even claims he got to the intersection on Missouri Avenue and Court Street and had to slam on his brakes and nearly went into oncoming traffic.

The allegation of street racing is totally inconsistent with the video. If there is any race going on, even if the Viper was in a race, Nick wouldn't know he was in it because he was so far ahead. That videotape is a complete 180 from what people claim happened and if they are wrong on that, how can we be sure they are right on other things?

I think eyewitness testimony is the least reliable. That's why we have instant replay in football."

151. To the people think that the seat belt would have prevented John's injuries please explain to me how that is so? Give me facts, educated guesses, observations that brings you to that conclusion. The head rest of the seat John was sitting in was broke off and caused injuries to the base of his skull due to the crash impact. (Base of skull is on the back of your head for people who don't know that). Now if he had suffered internal injuries, your point might be relevant, but this is not the case since the injuries where primary to the head. Point blank, Nick got VERY LUCKY that his injuries were not as severe. (By the grace of God as TEAM HOGAN say).
Nick was the driver, his foot was on the gas, he had alcohol in his system, and has a record of speeding. You can't tell me Nick wasn't aware the roads were wet or it had rained. To blame John for being irresponsible is pure ignorant. Sorry, but age doesn't play a role in this incident, try to come up with something a little more substantial. I mean if you want to go that way then perhaps Terry and Linda should have done something about Nicks reckless behavior as well as known better to allow his kid to drink and drive.
Hogans=Pathetic!

152. Where is the date and time stamp on this alleged evidence?

Without that, it proves absolutely nothing.

153. O'Really -Sounds like another poor excuse.....since I heard different from a direct source(reliable). Anyway, Nick was the driver and he caused the accident...........there would have been no impact if it wasn't for his own stupidity. The chump needs to be locked up and treated like the little biatch that he is..

Seriously Terry and Linda.....what a waste of sperm!

155. Seatbelts do not prevent all injuries! Some accidents are WORSE if a person is wearing a seatbelt. It all depends on where is car is hit.

157. John's injuries were the direct result of upon impact to the center rear of the vehicle (both passEngers recieved the same blunt force equally) slamming to the back and upwards to the roof of the Supra, then whipping back forward and to the side, inflicting injuries to front side and base of his brain. ALL I CAN SAY IS AS MY EXPERIENCE IS GREATER THAN YOURS, AS AN EMT, I HAVE NEVER UNFASTENED A DEAD PASSENGERS SEAT BELT.

158. Nick is a loser just like the rest of his family...they only care about themselves

159. by "Spurs" is an idiot~
You have never unbuckled a dead persons seat belt? I am on the volunteer rescue dept and I know I have unbuckled quite a few. Just another excuse to add to the list. I hope you are not implying that you being an EMT makes you an expert on all this? If that would be true, that would make you just as much as an idiot as the person you said it to.

161. "Spurs", actually the report they released said the majority of the damage from the impact was to the rear of the driver side. So all things equal Nick should have suffered the worst of the injuries. Obviously wearing the seatbelt was huge, and the Graziano's are going to have a real difficult time proving the seatbelt wasn't a huge factor. Not sure how that plays into the criminal case, which judging by this video, doesn't seem to be too strong. When you're witness says they revved their engines next to each other and the silver car drove off to a big lead, when they actually weren't even next to one another when the light turned green and the yellow car would be several seconds ahead (keeping in mind the entire distance from light to wreck couldn't have been more than 15 seconds giving very little time for the Silver viper to even pull even, let alone play "cat and mouse" several times), I don't think it's even possible they were racing.

162. this video proves nothing. but it does show they were getting to race off the line. even though the silver car gets stuck behind another car, it wouldn't take very long to swerve around and pass that one car and then start racing. just because they weren't side by side in this video doesn't mean jack. they hit the tree at 60mph doing what? you can deny and deny, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure this one out. this dumbed down 17 year old child is guilty as sin. if he were a regular joe he would have to face the consequences like a man. do the crime, do the time.

163. Hi like the Hogan Family, but what is Hulk thinking? You Don't give a young KID like Nick a fast car, its too much temptation to speed. I would bet the the Farm he was speeding. Hell Im 40yrs old and put me in a Fast Supra along side a Viper and you can bet I going to punch it. Sorry Nick, your screwed...

164. I was injured in an accident many years and I was a passanger in most these accidents and it seems to me that he has to accept responability and it will teach him a lesson I know his father @6 ' 8'' you should get your head knocked off. And his age for drinking is a No-No and drag racing is likely to take him for jail time. He could of killed someone!!
