Nick Hogan Crash:

A Tale of the Tape

11/8/2007 6:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Nick Hogan's camp is trying to turn the tide of public opinion by offering up exclusive new video shot just a few hundred feet from the sensational August 26 crash that left his former Marine buddy in a vegetative state.

The images, captured by a nearby security camera, appear to show Hogan's yellow Toyota Supra and another silver Dodge Viper, driven by pal Daniel Jacobs, stopped at a red light mere seconds before the smash-up. Then, they contend, Jacobs' ride momentarily got stuck behind a stalled car. That could contradict eyewitness reports that the Hogster and his buddy were drag racing.

Nick's attorney, Kevin Hayslett, spoke exclusively to TMZ and told us exactly what he thinks the video proves.

"This video is so important," Hayslett says, "because there are people that law enforcement relied upon who said that Nick was driving a particular way on this particular stretch of road. They are claiming that he was speeding during that time period, driving recklessly, losing control of his car. One witness even claims he got to the intersection on Missouri Avenue and Court Street and had to slam on his brakes and nearly went into oncoming traffic.

The allegation of street racing is totally inconsistent with the video. If there is any race going on, even if the Viper was in a race, Nick wouldn't know he was in it because he was so far ahead. That videotape is a complete 180 from what people claim happened and if they are wrong on that, how can we be sure they are right on other things?

I think eyewitness testimony is the least reliable. That's why we have instant replay in football."

This is a situation where justice really does need to be served. This is not some idiot starlet running into a tree. A man's life has been ruined at the hands of an under aged drinker and driver. I never could stand that arrogant little nothing on the show and now I think that he is downright despicable. That family needs to step up and take responsibility or Hogan's career is going to be way over!

Hey Nick, Don't drop the soap in your new home. Accountability is the issue. Let us not forget that a man's life is forever changed due to this arrogant little pr*&%. But then I'm sure his high priced lawyers will get him off with probation and community service. Those that can afford it always get off.

THE HOGANS THINK THAT THEIR SONS LIFE SHOULD BE SPARED SINCE HE IS OKAY AND THAT HE SHOULD NOT DOING ANYTIME....I SAY TO LINDA AND TERRY....

LET YOUR SON TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS...HE KNOWS NOTHING AND WILL NEVER LEARN ANYTHING IF YOU DONT LET HIM BE A MAN AND TAKE THE RAP. DO SOMETHING RIGHT FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIVES.

Clovis Colburn says if his buddy would have had his (SEAT BELT) on
he would NOT have been injured!!! You people need to take it easy on Nick, he had his SEAT BELT ON, it really makes a big difference even
at a slow speed! I'm sure it will all come out the way it was in court!
My prayers go out to Terry & his family, & the young man in the pass. seat! Give them a break, I knowey're all going through hard times right now! EASE OFF!

I sure wish you ppl could live in the clearwater/dunedin FL area and see what and who our local news affiliates have found out. This is getting worse by the minute, especially since you can go online and see Lil'Nicky's arrest record, address, etc. Live here in this are and see what most of us have seen. These kids are out of control...no regard for anyone. Yeppers...IT'S THE PARENTS. They don't care. But lest we forget. It wasn't Lil'Nicky's fault...It was John's fault for not wearing a seatbelt. And we thought Dog the Bounty hunter has problems... Wonder when Clearwater Police are going to haul a brain damaged person into court on this one...think about it.

Sounds worse for Nick--he wasn't racing anyone, just racing wrecklessly. Here in IL if you are the driver of the car, you would be the one given a ticket if your passenger wasn't in one. He should have checked to see before he took off "racing" (as I heard he is the youngest race car driver ?!) Throw the book at him!

I am so disgusted by the entire Bollea/Hogan family and their so called public relations. Just keep putting the blame elsewhere...no seatbelt would have made one bit of difference and as for the video, it shows and proves nothing.. The damn S.O.B. was charged with serious bodily injury, reckless driving, breath alcohol level of .02 or higher and illegal window tint. A 22 year old man is on life support, condemned to a nursing home until he dies. And the Bolleas have the gall to put the blame on him now! I for one am damn glad he is being charged as an adult and frankly, I don't care how much money they spend for John's care or his mother's care. Nick Bollea has committed a serious crime and its time to pay the piper.

Let's not pretend Hulk Hogan is an "A" list celebrity. He isn't. He is an ex wrestler bulked up on steroids wh managed to market himself plus he probably made some good investments. If he were truly famous he wouldn't have to keep himself in the public eye with some ridiculous reality show. He only did that show to get himself back in the tabloids and i am sure after he saw Ozzie's kids get careers out of The Ozzie Osborne Show, Hulk felt it might do the same for his brats. Hulk Hogan nor his kids are big time celebs. I would rather eat lunch with that fiesty Fabio then be seen with any of the Hogans. I wonder if they are still filming the show or is this maybe a little to real. Come on Hulk, now let us into your house and see "how daddy knows best"...

This video actually looks to me like Hogan's Supra stops at a red light, then slowly moves forward to wait for his friend's car, and then he very suddenly and quickly picks up speed as he moves out of the frame. What I'm seeing could actually hurt Hogan's argument whilst potentially supporting those of the eyewitnesses.

people are so quick to judge sitting at their computers.
you dont know how nick feels
i hope you all hurt someone the next time you go out (not on purpose mind you). All so I can sit here and judge you and laugh and say how much of a bad person you are. I'll also run down your family, cause they have tons to do with the situation. Thanks for reading.

We all looked at the pictures of the crash. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to tell us that he was speeding. He was also drinking at 17, so who cares whatever jerkoff is saying.

The passenger is just as much to blame for his current state as Nick is. 1. He shouldn't have gotten into a car with a minor who had been drinking (or anyone drinking, period). In fact, I wonder if he was the one who gave Nick the alcohol in the first place. 2. He should have worn his seatbelt, regardless of the speed. 3. As soon as Nick wanted to race/drive fast, he should have insisted on Nick slowing down or he should have insisted on being let out of the car.

That being said, Nick does deserve to get in trouble for the accident. His passenger is currently living his punishment, and Nick should face some consequences as well.
