257. The comments here are quite comical. I am getting quite a kick out of listening to those of you who live vicariously through people like Britney defend her and make excuses for her. You have no idea what you are talking about, but keep yapping anyway. "Britney is not and has never been on drugs"....hahahaha!!! You are kidding, right??
Ok, let me point out the obvious lies being passed off by her reps. They claim Provigil is giving her a false positive for amphetamines. This is not true. Provigil does not cause a false + for speed. Even if it did, why has this drug not caused a false positive before this? She does not have narcolepsy. Provigil is being used to treat her amphetamine abuse\dependency\addiction. Just look at her crazy behavior lately... she is using speed. She slipped up and used speed again, and the drug test caught her. She is using the "provigil for narcolepsy" cover up.

261. I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner (who works with a lot of substance abuse clients.) Actually, while Provigil would not give a false positive for amphetamine, Albuterol does. This is only true of a drug screen - a cheap, like $12 screening tool. What usually happens is a screening is done first - there are lots of false positives for many different types of drugs - and anything positive would be sent out for the more expensive ($300 or so) drug test.
Provigil would NOT be something given to bipolar clients. Like SSRIs, it could cause a rapid manic episode. If she truly has Provigil ordered, she probably has a doctor who is trying to keep her happy without giving her Schedule II drugs like Adderall. It's definitely not as strong but some people become a little euphoric on it. And it's not just for narcolepsy (although that's its supposedly main use.) Doctors are also allowed to order it for "shift workers."

265. She's probably on adderall. Its prescription for ADD. I think alot of stars take it. Makes you not ever hungry and lose weight........she's probably trying to lose weight.

It had to be prescribed to her tho. Or she's got some friend thats gets them for her. They are pretty highly controlled.

269. Provigil is not legal speed and is used for a host of label medical and psychiatric problems including depression and ADD. I think with all of the pressure in her life we can all say that she may be experiencing some emotional problems that may require her to take drugs like these. As far as her drug test, there are many over the counter as well as prescription drugs that can cause a false positive for amphetamines so lets not be so quick to judge Britney!
