There are reports circulating that Britney's positive drug test last week was the result of Provigil, a prescription for treatment of narcolepsy. Well, we're told it ain't so.

In generic drug testing -- the type performed on Britney -- there is not a special screening for Provigil.

In addition, we know the tests actually performed on Spears (until last week) all came back negative, and she had been taking Provigil before that. The plot thickens.

68. Provigil is also used off-label to treat sedation and fatigue in depression, myotonic dystrophy, opioid induced sleepiness[14], spastic cerebral palsy, and Parkinson’s disease. It increases subjective mood and friendliness.

Provigil has also used been used experimentally to treat cocaine/amphetamine addiction.

72. Actually, you can take Provigil for energy, too. I highly doubt that Britney is narcoleptic. If she is, then she definitely doesn't need to be the one "responsible" for the care of two small children. I've seen pics of her puffing on an inhaler and she doesn't have asthma. The chic is crazazy!! If she is taking Provigil, it would have shown up in previous tests. It actually acts in the body similar to that of an amphetamine. It acts on a person's dopamine receptors. So, it will give feelings of euphoria and can distort one's mood and psyche. So, it could show positive in a basic toxicology panel as (maybe) an amphetamine. If I was K-Fed, I'd be getting a court order to demand a clinical record of "diagnosis" for Narcolepsy. Sounds to me like she is abusing a prescription drug. Just food for thought.
