Brandy's Sound System Crashes

Was pop singer Brandy doing her best Ashlee Simpson on Sunday, or did someone just forget to pay the electric bill?!

Either way, her performance at the annual Sensationnel Hair Idol competition (we're not kidding!) in Washington D.C. quickly turned chaotic, when both music and lyrics abruptly cut off midway through a performance of "Who Is He to You."

"Brandy absolutely wasn't lip-syncing," her rep tells TMZ. "She was singing live." After briefly being joined on stage by 5 year-old daughter Sy'rai (who she almost forgot on stage-- paging Britney!) and lil' bro Ray J, Brandy sang an a cappella version of "Almost Doesn't Count" and then wrapped up her set by performing "Full Moon."

33. Who really cares about her ,she has very lil talent anyway, seems like a nice girl (dont know her personally) but she just fell in with the Hollywood lifestyle and hit the bottom, she needs to just go back home and continue to take care of her kids, doesnt she have more than just one?

43. I dont know why everyones tripping about performing at a hair show when shes under a multimillion dollar contract. Shes making more that night than most people reading this will make this year. She came back out and sang acapella and it was awsome. Accidents happen every day, people day from car accidents everyday. She is still alive, there is no reason to run hide and pretend her life or career are over when its just not true. Shes a beautiful talented woman who is one of the biggest musical voices to emerge from the 90's and your all just jealous:( i

44. It appears that this site is full of perfect angels or with individuals who have nothing to do. Brandy has a singing voice, and her skills has landed millions placed into her bank account. However, the invitation to sing at the hair show has zero to do with the accident. Sooooo for the simple minded individuals in here --- If your child fell off his or her bike and broke an arm --- do you blame the bike or cough it up as an accident? It's always unfortunate when someone dies in freak accidents, but some of the comments in here tagging Brandy as a murderer is crazy.

45. Perhaps you could also spend some of your time wondering why Rebecca Gayheart, Matthew Broderick and Orlando Bloom (although his was not a fatal accident) are not in jail.
