Brandy's Sound System Crashes

Was pop singer Brandy doing her best Ashlee Simpson on Sunday, or did someone just forget to pay the electric bill?!

Either way, her performance at the annual Sensationnel Hair Idol competition (we're not kidding!) in Washington D.C. quickly turned chaotic, when both music and lyrics abruptly cut off midway through a performance of "Who Is He to You."

"Brandy absolutely wasn't lip-syncing," her rep tells TMZ. "She was singing live." After briefly being joined on stage by 5 year-old daughter Sy'rai (who she almost forgot on stage-- paging Britney!) and lil' bro Ray J, Brandy sang an a cappella version of "Almost Doesn't Count" and then wrapped up her set by performing "Full Moon."

46. Brandy ran away when she was punked on MTV and she ran when she caused that car accident! She is a Lip Syncing skank who's career is in the toilet. If she has to sing at a weave festival that just proves she is BROKE!

47. Who cares if she was lip-syncing... The girl was able to sing once upon a time. If her voice was strained that one night again who cares. She proved herself to be a TRUE singer unlike Ashlee yuck face years ago...

In Brandy's defense, she probably stopped singing at the same time the music stopped because as an artist they where an earpiece so they can hear a live feed of the music so they don't have the reverberation of the music bouncing off the walls in the venue and undoubtedly she stopped singing at that same moment because she was no longer hearing they music in her earpiece. Also I believe it truly unfair for people to comment about the accident she was involved in when it could've happened to anyone. The only reason we know about it is because it was Brandy and it's a shame that someone lost their life in that accident, but again it happens everyday.

57. Brandy was not on the cell phone and it wasn't a hit and run she stayed there until the police came. It was an accident and God forbid it could happen to any of us some day.

So, get your facts right.

Brandy may have lip-synched that show, but everyone already knows she has an amazing voice unlike people like Cassie and Britney Spears so who really cares.

58. Oh, you people critcicizing and thinking this is anything major "GROW UP!" What, do you expect with the stage set-up for her to have a band or orchestra there behind her? You people are idiots! Any performer singing at a venue like this is going to be lip-syncing. Doesn't mean the girl can't sing! She's no Fantasia, but that's because nobody currently touches 'Tasia as far as singing with heart and soul. You want to see some singing? Get some tickets for Broadway's "the Color Purple", quick! No lip-syncing there!

60. 1) Brandy never was talented, she was lucky. 2) She was lip-synching, but so does Cher and Madonna. 3) If she weren't a celeb, would she be in jail? 4) Most celebs today ARE NOT TALENTED! They are getting to be celebs due to their looks. It used to be talent, pure natural talent, that led people to become famous: Judy Garland, Elton John, and Bob Dylan to name a few. None of them would have made it big in today's enviroment: their vocals would have been technically enhanced to the point of becoming generic, and their looks would have been considered chubby, chunky, and unkempt respectively. Think about it.
