17. It is funny how many people make fun of this guy. He sang a hit song and sold over 12 million records. Last time I heard he actually saved his money and is still is a millionaire living in Florida.
Mark my words. If Ice, Ice Baby was released today, it would be a hit. Cut him some slack. He did what 90% of us would have done. Ride the wave and make some money.

26. A couple of years ago, there was a show on one of the major networks that had singers/groups perform their #1 hit and then a cover of a newer song. When Vanilla Ice was on, he won by a landslide. The host of the show said they never had an artist win my such a large margin. Come on, admit it. There's a bunch of us baby boomers loved that song!

28. "Ice Ice Baby" was a ripoff of Queen and David Bowie's "Under Pressure". Vanilla Ice never bothered to get permission to use their song and was later sued.
He also claimed that he attended a predominantly black high school in Florida. This was a lie however, he actually went to some white middle class sissy school in Texas.
He has been arrested for assulting his wife.
And he also tried committing suicide (twice) in 1994 when he realized that his fifteen minutes of fame were up.

30. #27, he did lift the riff from Under Pressure. However, Ice Ice Baby was a much, much bigger hit than Under Pressure ever was. He added his own lyrics and made it a hit. He sampled just like every other rap artist out there.
When Puff Daddy record I'll Be Missing You, a blatant rip-off of the Police's Every Breath You Take, he used like 80% of the lyrics from the original song. Now that was a crappy remake.
