Dr. Jan Adams -- His Appearance on "Oprah"

In November of 2003, Dr. Jan Adams -- the plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mom before her death -- appeared on an episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

According to his bio, Adams has made "countless appearances" on television -- including serving as host for a show on the Discovery Channel called "Plastic Surgery: Before and After."

He also co-hosted NBC's "The Other Half" with Dick Clark, Danny Bonaduce and Mario Lopez.

46. #15 R.--I agree with your comment regarding Oprah and her selection of guests. Since she states that she has such high values and so forth---more effort should be made by her investigative team to see such mishaps. (i.e. lack of board certification, multiple DUI status, malpractice suits).

47. I don't think the doctor did anything wrong. Tragedy can happen after having any kind of major surgery, if you don't follow directions from your doctor. I had an adverse action to a breast reduction in 2002. The doctor did nothing wrong. I failed to follow directions, therefore, I ended up having a second surgery. Anyho, Ms. West was warned of the complications that could follow her COMBINED procedure. She did not take heed - therefore, she had to pay the price. I know it sounds harsh - but it's true. My heart goes out to Kanye. His mom was his bestfriend. Poor him.

48. There is no evidence that says he has make a mistake at all in the case of Donda West.
People should quit condemning people until they are PROVEN guilty. This poor woman
could have very easily just had a heart attack, or something completely unrelated to the
surgery she had.

49. Unfortunately, having that (George Bush doesn't like BLACK PEOPLE attitude) may have had a negative impact on the West family and how they see WHITE people. It's not always a good idea to ONLY deal with BLACK people just because their BLACK. Martin Luther King said it best when it comes to character and not color.
GOD BLESS the West family.

50. In response to the posting on Nov. 13 from R., Oprah is not a racist. Her staff is not just composed of black people. Matter of fact, when I went to the show, I saw more white people working there than blacks. Oprah did not have Dr. Jan Adams on her show just because he is a black plastic surgeon. And I don't believe Dr. Donda West decided to go with Dr. Adams just because he is a black plastic surgeon. But what if she did? I guess that would be her right. Your posting is disturbing because it suggests black doctors are less qualified: "Donda West just had to have herself a black plastic surgeon. And now she's dead because of it." Your statement suggests any client patronizing a black doctor will meet the same end. So now who's the racist?

51. It is indeed a tragedy. My deepest condolences go out to the entire West family. I especially feel sadness for Kanye because he was very close to his mom and nothing can replace that bond. I pray that Kanye will find peace within himself knowing his mother is in a better place, a peaceful place full of joy and never ending love. God Bless you all!

52. To Shelly who wrote that Oprah is racist (Nov 13th). Honestly, your comment is so Belligerent.Furthermore, Oprah is not where she is because of white people. IT'S BECAUSE SHE IS GIFTED, INTELLIGENT, BLACK, BEAUTIFUL AND LOVING IT!! You are giving yourself and your race too much credit! Matter of fact, you are the racist. The days of white power is over. Don't be jealous because one of the wealthiest people in the world is BLACK. BLACK IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE BEAUTIFUL!

53. Oprah did her "MY Favorite Things Show". Why not offer each member of the stuido audience a free plastic surgery by Dr. Jan Adams. Crazy thing is people would do it because he was good enough for the Oprah show.
