Inhaler? We Hardly Knew Her! -- Brit's Drug Test

Britney spearsTMZ has learned Britney Spears will now say her false positive drug test may have been caused by her inhaler, which she uses for asthma.

Sources connected with Spears told TMZ yesterday that the drug that may have caused the positive was Provigil, used to treat narcolepsy. But TMZ did some digging and found Provigil would not show up on a court-ordered drug test.

Now the same source says the drug that showed up may have been Albuterol, an asthma drug. But, again, we checked and Albuterol is not an amphetamine, and the class of drug that showed up on the test was an amphetamine.

K-Fed's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, will press the issue tomorrow in court. Stay tuned.

The term "Amphetamine" may also refer to the class of compounds derived from Amphetamine, often referred to as the Substituted Amphetamines.

53. #46 - shut the hell up! I check two websites first thing every morning. TMZ.com and MSNBC.com. More than HALF of the entertainment stories on MSNBC.com site TMZ as their initial source and all the stories have been confirmed. Just because this is a celebrity site doesn't mean their information is fabricated or in any other way false.

And anyone can be knowledgeable with regard to narcotics and drug tests. It's called research.

56. Ummm…maybe she has ADD or ADHD? It would explain both her sometimes behavior and failed drug tests. The most common medications for treatment are Adderall and Ritalin which both show up on generic drug tests as amphetamines. Considering that most adults on these medications don’t exactly walk around wearing a sign that says “I have problems sitting still and paying attention” or “hey freak want to steal my prescription amphetamines” ... that isn’t exactly the kind of news you want to be broadcasting!

57. Diane T, this will be an issue TOMORROW when they go back to court.

She SHOULD have only limited visitation at a designated location. No more home visits for hours, no more overnights. Not until she can comply with the court orders already in affect.

As far as I'm concerned, she's FAILED 6 drug tests. The reason she didn't show up, is because she KNEW they'd be positive.
