Thank You, Thank You! How many times does this have to be stressed? Just because BET is the one channel out of 199 that primarily shows black TV. shows and music does not make it a racist channel. MOST black people don't want to watch shows they can't identify with like Friends (how can you be in NY and only show 2 black people for about 10 seasons) Seinfield (same thing as friends), sex in the city, desperate housewives, and the list goes on and on. You can't say there's not a WET, it’s on every channel its just not exclusively named this. There are other channels that are geared to a particular genre: lifetime for women, Telemundo for the Mexican audience, and other channels geared to other ethnicities. So why does everyone always feel the need to point BET out? Stations didn't want to play black music or movies, show black shows, or have more than 1 black VJ, so they created BET as an outlet. Now that its a billion dollar company people want it gone....sorry it isn’t going anywhere folks.

44. Okay time to get real people..The reason black people have BET is because WE needed a station that appeals to Us and have movies that we could identify with. Get real America you dont need a WET thats because every other station besides Telemundo and BET is filled with white faces. I say Asians as well as Indians and the rest of minorites should get their own personal channel as well. So why are you so worried about one damn station. Cant you just let Us have that? Obviously not with the bitching and moaning going on, on this site. I flip my Tv and I see white faces on every station movies filled to the Brim with A full White Cast and Ensemble. With the token black person as a maid and what not. BET gives the black community movies we can relate to. Because not all of us are maids, crack fiends, robbers, gang bangers, Drug Dealers majority of us do have intelligence. So BET has movies that portray the normal everday black person at times. Then they through in Rap videos so we can sit back and watch in amusement just like the rest of the world does. Too many of you who are judging black people based on these music videos aired on MTV, BET and so forth,you only see the negativity. Why because people love to see the train wrecks and garbage. It gives them since of superiority in away. But to truly understand is to get to know someone of any race on a personal level. So please stop whinning over BET, and any other black owned enterprise. DAMN!

45. What about the "token" white people on the Cosby show? It wasn't and hasn't ever been on BET. I could really care less if certain stations cater to certain ethnic, age, gender, or sexually oriented groups. But, in all fairness if a station catered to white people, it would be viewed as racist.
