GLAAD Unhappy with CAAN

GLAAD and CAANAfter viewing TMZ's story about nepostar Scott Caan's anti-gay slur toward a paparazzo, GLAAD pumped out a statement chastising him.

"While Caan's anger at being harassed is understandable, responding with that kind of vulgar, anti-gay slur is simply unacceptable," said Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation President Neil G. Giuliano. "We've reached out to Caan's representatives and called on him to apologize for his defamatory, dehumanizing remark."

UPDATE: Scott Caan issued the following statement to TMZ: "I am sorry for using such a derogatory word. I was being harassed by a paparazzi, and unfortunately, the word slipped out. I don't ever condone the use of that word and I deeply apologize to anyone whom I may have offended."

3. I am so sick of the police state we are turning into when everyone's words are monitored and then they must 'apologize'. Do we not have better things to do, GLAAD? Go away.

4. If anyone should be asked to apologize for anti-gay slurs or accusing people of being gay when they are not, it is this site.

5. Why does GLAAD deserve a response? They're just another whiny social group that gets offended at everything - they want to be different but scream and cry when someone points out that they are.

6. This is such a non-issue. I agree with #3. Remember when we would just shrug off such comments or ignore them because we were above such petty remarks. This society will never make it if we continue down the "so and so" said the f- word, which is F

8. Well THAT didn't take very long. The guy may be a scumbag for all we know, but heaven frorbid hat GLAAD just roll with the punches and let it go for once. No, they have to act all miffed and offended, and ask for an apology. Yeah, they're all for tolerance until some idiot two-bit actor makes a stupid off-the-cuff remark that most people would have just shrugged off or else thrown it back at him. Let's all be offended and demand an apology. because this jerk made us feel bad.

What is happening to this country?

11. Caan has always been a problem child. No One should be suprise at his comments. The folks at CLAAD should just coolout; unless, they push the issue so things can get really interesting with this little demon.
Caan and his children of stars buddies tend to be "above the law" when it comes to expressing themselves only because they have trouble finding nouns, pronouns etc., and all of them failed to finish their high school correspondence classes. We know he is a looser. He knows that he is a looser. Looser.

12. Never mind the slur. A big mouth with weenie arms was probably challenging Eva Longoria--someone more his size.

14. For someone calling our 'fag' to people he sure looks gay in that tight little white t-shirt. I am a gay man, takes one to know one they say!
