Dr. Adams and the Plastic Surgery Nightmare -- The Pix

This lovely woman was left with horrific scars after a surgery performed by Dr. Jan Adams.

TMZ TV interviewed Julie Coleman, who says her body is "marred for life," after she appeared as a patient on Dr. Jan's Discovery Health show "Plastic Surgery: Before and After."

Coleman gave TMZ photos of her body right after the operation.

WARNING: These pictures are extremely graphic.

91. Lori is my cousin and was a patient of Dr. Careless Adams. I am saddened that this monster is still allowed to practice medicine. He has caused physical and mental anguish to too many people. Dr. Jerk-off Adams is a careless individual who desperately seeks fortune and fame at the cost of his patient's health. He appears to be a greedy man who does a half-ass job. If he had any traces of what it takes to be called a human, he would not have operated on Donde West, who was unfit for that type of cosmetic surgery. He puts his patient's health at risk so he can fatten his wallet. I am just disgusted. He laughed in my cousin's face when she told him what he had done to her body. Someone who laughs at the pain they cause others is a sadistic bastard, and Dr. Jan, you are the scum of the earth. You are a terd in an Armani suit. I believe in Karma and I hope it bites you in the ass!

93. TMZ, thank you from the bottom of my heart for shedding light on the seriousness of these surgical procedures. I want every female in my family to see this during this weekend before you roll it away forever.

My sincerest condolences go out to the West family and friends for their loss.

Julie Coleman, both you and Donda West, need to be recognized by women's organizations and school classrooms for educating us about the horrors of plastic surgery. More than ever before, I now believe that competent plastic surgeons need to stick to restoring serious accident and burn victims.

94. Julie, I can't imagine what it's like to be in your shoes right now. You're dealing with the ordeal of these photos of you being splashed all over this website with remarkable grace. I'm not sure how I'd deal with this if I were in your shoes.

If you're ok with moving on with your life after this, then good on you. But maybe it wouldn't hurt to talk to a lawyer to see if you can get some kind of recompense for this. Who knows if this guy will ever face murder charges, even though he probably should. Maybe if people like you who have suffered so much from his incompetence sue his butt into bankruptcy and beyond he will at least be made to suffer to some extent as well. Hate to advocate vengeance, but what he did was so, so wrong and he should be made to pay in some way.

Best of luck with everything. You're an awfully courageous human being, most of all for facing the vitriol that seems intrinsic to this comment board. And those of you who judge her? Heaven help you.

95. Idiots, being board certified is completely voluntary, and only a marketing device. There are hacks doing plastic surgery who are dentists and worse. Plastic surgery is SURGERY, be an adult and do your homework first.

97. I have all the comments here and I have to say one thing you are leaving out............Do Your Homework Before You Let Anyone Touch Your Body..... and Ms Coleman?, nothing is Free, But I guess you found that out because the reason You cant sue is not because its to late but beacause you signed a waiver so you could get it for free. Wake up people, this is a sad time to have to say this but, We learn from Their mistakes and ours. Maybe people will learn from this, I truly DOUGHT IT

98. "Julie Coleman, both you and Donda West, need to be recognized by women's organizations and school classrooms for educating us about the horrors of plastic surgery"

How about you campaign just as hard to get parents to instill values in their kids so they will learn to love themselves and never have a need for plastic surgery? Quit making these people into heroes, you're being totally ridiculous.

99. If you look on ABMS.org, you can see that this guy is not even board certified. I don't think his patients stories can be dismissed saying the patients didn't do research though. There should be stricter laws prohibiting unqualified dr's from performing surgery on people. Of course with this guy being on TV shows and referred by high profile people, you would get the idea that he was one of the best. You would never think a man with a plastic surgery show on the Discovery Channel is a quack. I guess we should look at him as an actor, not a qualified surgeon.

It is unfortunate that people have been butchered like this and worse that people have the nerve to say it is their own fault. I don't think she was out lifting weights right after surgery, tearing open the sutures. This is a serious surgery and I can guarantee this woman was not able to get out of a chair comfortably for a week or more, she definitely wasn't overexerting herself.

I personally want to see these quacks lose their licenses, their money and their freedom. The medical field is very corrupt. These dr's will withold your surgery reports, edit them and ignore you. They will do anything they have to to save themselves without one thought about your disfigurement that they caused. When you take them to court, they will always be able to afford a better lawyer and in many cases get the case thrown out... Be careful who you trust!

100. Re: #94 - Joe Smith

"I guarantee you Dr. Adams warned her explicitly about the possibilities of complications and scarring. But she ignored the warnings and begged hom to do it anyway. "

Well, the only way you could know that is if you are Dr Jan Adams... Are you he?

And as for being board certified is "only a marketing device." Wow... that shows a very shallow understanding of certification. Are the like 97% of practicing plastic surgeons who are board certified just dupes who wasted their time getting certified. I guess they didn't care about their profession and were probably only looking for a "marketing device"...

101. It doesn't matter if a surgeon is working on a body to fight a deadly disease, repair a drug dealer who got shot or stabbed by another one, or for appearance, that surgeon is legally, morally, and financially obligated to perform the work competently.

TMZ is a gossip and light news site. I am guessing from the amount of coverage this rather heavy subject is getting that Harvey has a burr under his saddle about doctors who behave in this fashion. I don't blame him. I do, too.

Discovery Health presented this man as someone who can make nearly everyone look beautiful in both face and body. He is nothing of the sort. Consider: Julie Coleman was supposed to be a walking advertisement for Jan Adams. He didn't even get his own ad right.

When I think about that second floor "surgical center," I cannot help but wonder how the devil a patient gets back DOWN those steps after having eight or nine hours of surgery. A tummy tuck does not just involve the skin and fat on the tummy. The muscles are also pulled and tightened. It's a piece of major surgery. I cannot imagine being sent straight home after that. Women I know who have had tummy tucks have spent at least two nights in a recovery center. One woman whose blood pressure kept bouncing up and down during surgery was sent by ambulance to a hospital where she spent three days. Dr. Adams? Why, shoot, he just sends them down the stairs and on home.

102. TMZ, the offer is on the table...$100 million dollars can be yours if you please stop posting articles about this idiot. This doesn't deserve 50 posts a DAY. QUIT, WE DON'T CARE ABOUT DR. ADAMS BRUSHING HIS TEETH, oh wait, you already posted that, sorry.

103. I have worked as a nurse and cannot tell you the countless times something has been left in a patient. Of course, an infection starts, and they go back into surgery. As for the horrendous surgical scars, some people do not do as their doctor tells them. Some take out the stitches or staples before they should come out, others don't come back to have them removed when they should and an infection starts. I don't know what this doctor did, but everyone is acting like he is the only doctor with malpractice suits and a few unhappy patients. Dr. Adams has been licensed since 1992. I don't know how many surgeries he has done, but if it is a lot then the ratio of surgeries versus the most recent complaints would certainly be in his favor. It amazes me how when a person is branded by the media as doing something wrong, everybody jumps on the bandwagon.

104. I watched this guy on the Discovery Channel many times and thought he seemed phony but never would I have expected all this! It amazes me that a woman as intelligent and wealthy as Donda West wouldn't have done some heavy duty research on the doctor messing with her body. Of course, doctors make plastic surgery seem like nothing - like it isn't real or dangerous. Now many woman have come forth with horror stories and scars to prove it, His ex said he beat her, Basically he is a huge phony creep (now a murderer) who somehow slipped through the cracks time and time again.

It is a shame a woman had to die for all this to come out. Kayne, GO GET HIM!!

105. That's major lawsuit. I think she could even sue Oprah, discovery, nbc (I think these are the ones that featured this Dr. Adams). I feel bad for her. I think she had a tummy tuck and breast lift. I know when you lose a lot of weight (mean fat loss) you'll get loose skin. Those infection is probaby due to improper sterilization of surgical tools and operating room. Nosocomal infection. He even sent her home bleeding. Geez! How the heck did he get past medical training? I wonder what's his credentials/resume?
