Dr. Adams and the Plastic Surgery Nightmare -- The Pix

This lovely woman was left with horrific scars after a surgery performed by Dr. Jan Adams.

TMZ TV interviewed Julie Coleman, who says her body is "marred for life," after she appeared as a patient on Dr. Jan's Discovery Health show "Plastic Surgery: Before and After."

Coleman gave TMZ photos of her body right after the operation.

WARNING: These pictures are extremely graphic.

121. I had a breast reduction. Those incisions in the photos are normal and they will fade away. But the tummy tuck with the gaping holes, that is definitely not normal. It seems as if mutiple people have complained about this guy so why is he still practicing ?? The state of California should have revoked his license. It is shameful.

123.

I am not attacking or defending this doctor.

He probably does hundreds of surgeries a year, and surgery ALWAYS carries risks. As with ALL surgeries, there is always some that will not turn out well, it's just the way it is. The best of the best will have surgeries that will go bad, and it is out of the doctors control. Infection is ALWAYS the major risk, and it VERY MUCH looks like this lady has infection, a rare hard to control infection. To me it looks like she has staph infection. I feel very sorry for this woman, she had an elective surgery, and everyone should always give very much thought to whether the surgery is worth what might go wrong. There is no guarantee with ANY medical procedure, so many things can go wrong. The more surgeries that happen, the more people will die, there is a law of averages with that as the is everything else in life, if there were only a few surgeries a year, we might not hear of any of them going bad. There is also the home care, was the wound taken care of properly at home, clean hands, clean dressings, etc.? If she had staph infection she most likely got it from the hospital where surgery was done.

Everyone has to think about the things that can go wrong and decide whether the surgery is REALLY worth it or not. I myself would have NO surgery unless it is medically necessary. I was a nurse for years and I have seen surgery results worse than this. If the surgery isn"t necessarily, it just isn't worth taking the risk !

Anyone now days having any medical procedure, are run through like cattle. Day surgeries and even major surgeries you are sent home the next day, it;s not right but that is the way it is and we can thank the hight cost of health care and insurance companies for that, they don't want to pay for a few days of VERY MUCH NEEDED hospital care for major surgeries. We very sadly live in a micro-wave society, quick, quick, quick.

124. i'm not really understanding why people are trying to put any of the blame on the shows that he has been on. there's a lot of crap on tv and as an adult you have to decide how much value you put into it. i wasn't aware that it was their responsibility to do the work that i should be doing in choosing a doctor to cut ME up. i've seen his show on discovery health and no where does it say or imply that discovery health thinks you should only go to this doctor b/c he is on our show. i didn't see him on the other shows but i'm sure they weren't implying that either. it's about choice and you should look into things a little bit further than what you see on tv. i'm sure no one sees a car commercial and then buys the car without doing anymore research.

125. Ohh My GAWWWD.

Honestly, when I read about this lady -- I thought she was probably telling the truth and she had some horrible scars but I am shocked at how horrible they are.

I've researched breast augmentation and other surgeries on websites - I have NEVER ever seen scars like that.

That poor lady. Those are deep, deep scars that will never fade. How horrific for her. And she is the one who had her story documented by Discovery channel and they edited out the horrible results.???

Discovery channel should be ashamed. As well as any other tv show or channel that showcased this man...like Oprah.

126. I am glad to see all of this come out to educate the people whose might be thinking about something of having the plastic surgery and give its an awareness in these today's medical world. I remember back then reading newspaper of the article (story ) about 16 years old girl died from it, the doctor was not even close to being a doctor with all fake licenses, etc. Better to call the local bureau to check it out, double check everything. If not on the list, Call your capital city government about it. I believe if we do the smart thing to check it out on every doctors, dentist, and children's doctors, and so on, not just on plastic surgeons to avoid any future mistakes, .. maybe to save your relatives's,or your immediate family's or friend's lives.

129. ~My god that was horrid~....I can't wait for the time when the plastic surgery fad dies off (if it ever does)....Unless you have a severe problem there is no reason to start cutting on your body......Honestly I think many of these stars who have distorted their faces look as if something is not fully right with them....~some more extreme than others.....a lot of them look like they're from the same alien tribe really, with enlarged lips and giant swollen cheeks........It's ridiculous and has obviously gotten so out of hand they seem to have forgotten what a real human being looks like.....They will make bizarre looking old people
~that's for sure~

130. yeah well...hey!

If Oprah had him on her show, he's the one to call, right?

I'll never get over how gullible people are.
Hopefully, one day not only the writers go on strike but the damn television industry resulting in overheated televisions going blank.

unbelievable!
yeah, give me a TV doctor anyday! An Oprah-DR., even better.

131. 124. This really scares me. I lost 150 pounds and need to have some cosmetic work done, but I'm afraid to now.

FACT: Liposuction is one of, if not the most, risky surguries performed in America today. And it hurts like hell.........but Dr.'s don't like to tell you part.
If you have a Lipo procedure you have a up to *60%* more chance of complications.

You *should* be afraid,
in fact, you should be *very* afraid.

If you're going in anyway, check out your doctor and remember, don't believe a word of what his carefully selected patients say about him.
Board Certified doctors are less risky, true. However, even *they* (the honest ones, anyway) should tell you all the risks during your first appointment ---- IOW, before they sell you on the procedure.

Congrats on your weight loss.
But remember, there are worse things in this world than living with some flab.

Most importantly, don't be influenced by television personalities posing as caring and qualified doctors. Ask yourself, why is this person on television and not in his/her office? For $$$$$$$, of course.

bah...
No way would I get plastic surgury. I'll happily deal with my body and aging, AS IS.

132. I think it is going to go down in the books some day as one of the stupidest things women ever dared to do to their bodies. Just the thought of volunteering to willingly rip through your chest, carve yourself up and stuff your insides like a thanksgiving day turkey is insane to me. The method of going under the muscle now, in order to give a more "natural" appearance, gotta love that. Nothing like electing to tear through ones "useless" muscle tissue. All in the name of what? Getting more attention? Feeling better about oneself? Bizarre.

133. 128. There is NO WAY Oprah checked his credentials before having him on her show. Surely if she (or her producers) knew he wasn't a board certified plastic surgeon, she would have never had him on there.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PRODUCERS OUT THERE!!! Don't you do background checks on your guests BEFORE you book them? I guess you just take them at face value and BELIEVE what they tell you.

Can any of these shows be sued as well for "endorsing" him??

_______________

Amen to that.
I'm sick of Oprah's so called experts.
All Oprah cares about is how charismatic they'll be on stage.
Period.

134. First, what's with all of the OPRAH bashing. She has nothing to do with this. Yeah, even Oprah's staff can make mistakes -- I'm A LOT more interested in DISCOVERY HEALTH and why this guy had A SHOW on there on a regular basis!! That is very scary!

As someone (Robin) wrote in the comments under the pictures, it's not just celebrities who die from this. Robin, I'm so VERY sorry about your mother (58 years old). The situation with Donda West and "Dr." Jan Adams in not an anomaly. I'm glad this came to light, but it really shouldn't have taken this.

And then, there are those who will perform surgery even when it should NOT be done -- let's not forget Michael Jackson & MANY OTHERS!!

I want to say that it took A LOT of courage for this lady to share her pictures.
