"Kramer's" Racist Tirade -- Has It Been a Year Already?

Where has the time gone?

It's been 365 days since Michael Richards, previously best known playing Cosmo Kramer on the hit TV show "Seinfeld," unleashed a verbal assault on a heckler at the Laugh Factory that featured the repeated use of the N word.

Yesterday, the Laugh Factory "celebrated" the anniversary with a press conference at the club. Though it was promoted that Michael Richards would be there, he was not.

Perhaps he wanted to acknowledge this day in his own special way.

16. Funny, the majority of ppl listening to hip hop/rap music are white kids from the "burbs" . It was on 20/20 and the anchor did a story on it and yes even his kids listen to it. As far as Michael Richards, like one of the posts in the room. He will have to live with what he said and the majority will forgive, but will not forget. The thing that "white America" forget is, they r now the minority. In saying that, the white population is now mixed. Your skin may be white but your kids r sneaking behind your back for "other than white" mates and having kids.

18. Live on Michael Richards! I just watched a HBO comedy with Katt Williams, now I was so disgusted with his comedy I had to switch to another show. Why? Because every other word out of his mouth was the N word. If he was heckled during his performance I would bet a Ben Franklin that he would re-act the same way Michael Richards did, but that would be OK, right? Of course, because Katt Williams is black, so that is cool right? Don't think so! What really angers me is that these Red Neck (CMT comedy show) comedians have been on air and used the word "Squaw and Injun" in their skit, yet no one, not even the NAACP would stick up for the Native American, as the usage of these words in the comedy skit were definately RACIST against Native Americans and Native women! So why aren't the Black Americans all heated up over that? Way I see it, and the only way I can see it is they go over board with accusations of racism, yet they can use the words in their music and in comedy and in movies, but the rest of us are racist if we use it? Honestly people, this is not the way to support what the great Martin Luther King jr, believed in. If he was still alive, he would be the first minority to stick up for all races, black, white, Indian, Mexican, Puerto Rican, etc! But yet, his own people fail to honor what he believed in.

Now, I look at what this Jenna issue back east, and it saddens me of the lack of justice and how these Black students were treated, that is a valid issue. But if this was a Native American or Hispanic, they would not be marching in DC over it, and that to me, is very sad!

In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, let's try to come together and work together to stop racism, and be thankful during your Thanksgiving meal, thank my people, who still are not honored for ensuring the Pilgrims had food to eat, we taught them how to survive, yet, over 100 years later, our people are still yet to be recognized in the media and especially the entertainment industry. We have great entertainers out there, Elaine Miles, Graham Greene, Irene Beddard, Adam Beach, Musicans, Storm Seymour, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Shane Yellowbird, etc.

Thank you TMZ for posting this about Michael, he's a great actor and comedian, and I hope he continues with his work, Peace be with you all!

22. Americanindian84, thanx for your post. Some defend for no reason. I say forgive Michael Richards. Not for us to judge but to comment on. At the end of the day we are all people with different back grounds, cultures and religions. Isn't that what makes us special and worth knowing. I can't belive how racially divided that not just the USA but our world has become. All people are from one race, the human race.

23. Forgive and forget? Thats the problem! You can forgive someone but, forgetting is a whole different story.

When we forget ... we repeat our mistakes. Just look at this poor guy, standing up there saying the N word. You know, the way he came across...yes, I would be offended and I'm not even Black.

White people should learn not to use the N word at all and if they do, they should make sure they aren't CELEBS! Many celebs have friends who are also black and if you want to befriend the black community as a white person, PLEASE be kind so that Oprah can endorse you and you can make your millions but, PLEASE< PLEASE use common sense and also use respect!

I can understand white trash using that word, as I've been around them and because of their own status and oppression (yes, whites feel the oppression from other whites!) they learn to spew hate from their mouths and hearts and start comparing their skin color as a "status" that sets them apart from others who aren't white.

PSSSSSSS, people...respect yourselves first!

24. It's kinda hard to say I forgive him when I don't think he did anything wrong. This whole "N" word ordeal is kinda one sided don't you think?

25. It is racism only if a white person says it. However, if a black person says
the word then it considered normal and cool. That in itself is true racism.
The blacks need to stop using the word or SHUT THE F**K UP!!

26. if blacks dont like it stop using it,you look stupid and i dont think thee older blacks appreciate the young blacks walkin around calling each other the n word, they came to far to let you young punks destroy wat they work so hard for,ya look retarded when u call each other the n word!!! your not impressing whites at all!!!

27. Oops -- Did I say that out loud?

Posted at 4:37PM on Nov 17th 2007 by Cosmo Kramer

28. Oh, I'm sorry I said "White trash." PS forgive me but, please don't forget...because in order for me to learn from MY mistake...I shouldn't forget myself.

See what I mean? Oh by the way, it isn't just white people who are racist ... everyone is....why? Most of the time its due to ignorance.

Many people of different races really do feel oppressed by their own skin color and somehow they project their actions towards another race ... making them feel superior and special, I guess.

CELEBS should know better, though.
