R. Kelly's Publicist: I Believe I Can Quit!

R. KellyRegina Daniels, who worked as R. Kelly's publicist for 14 years, has formally announced her decision to end all ties with the platinum pisser. What took her so long?

In her statement, Daniels writes, "I have prided myself on loyalty, respect and professionalism. It saddens me that I was not always shown those same courtesies during my 14-year tenure as Mr. Kelly's publicist ... There are some lines that should never be crossed professionally or personally. Mr. Kelly crossed a line that forever altered the scope of our relationship. For this reason I made the decision to resign." Daaaaaamn!

Five years ago R. Kelly was charged with 14 counts of child pornography. He has yet to go to trial, but proceedings should kick off next spring.

107. ChrisFromChatt, show me where I've defended R. Kelly or made excuses. In all of my posts, I've said he needs to go to jail.

As for his daughters, there is no proof that he's done this to his kids so don't make a baseless accusation. Stick to the facts we do know.

As for my eyes, they are open. R. Kelly wouldn't be in jail because R. Kelly would be calling the police for me if this was my daughter! But I would also have a long chat with my daughter about having sex at that age in the first place too!

108. If this was a regular person, the police, news, and state would be all over the situation on charges reflecting to child pornography. Although it seems pretty obvious that Rapist Kelly's Publicist knows things that could possibly damage R. Kelly's career. Someone should really put forth laws that make everyone, even celebrities or, no matter what color under the same laws and jurisdictions as anyone else in the United States.

109. Yes...if this child was 10 years old and "willingly" had sex with R Kelly, would you call THAT consent? You really need to undertstand that there is no such thing as a 13 or 14 year old consenting to having sex under the law when the man she is having sex with is over the age of 21.

110. Stop haitng all you die hard bloggers without the real facts, he HAS NOT RAPED ANYONE, DID YOU SEE THE SEX TAPE? The young girl was experienced and enjoyed every bit of R. Kelly. He did not rape anyone he had sex with a underage girl, and the question to all your answers they continue to postpone because the underage girl does not want to testify against him. She herslf is saying that the guy is not R. Kelly so sit down and get your facts straight, i am totally agains t anyone man taking advantage on any woman but he did not rape her, and its not his fault its her parents fault where were they? who taught her the things she was doing in the video tape.
And his publist never stated anything about rape, or sexual harassment so my point and question is WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU NO FACT BLOGGERS TALKING BOUT..........

113. DC Kitten,
A couple of us have given you the definition of CONSENT. Children don't legally CONSENT. They are CHILDREN. You haven't paid attention ... If 24 teachers couldn't get you to pay attention in class in 12 years then it would be a waste of our time to try anymore as well. Oh, and on a personal note ... I can't imagine how crappy the public school system must be in the city of bullets, D.C.

114. R. Kelly is a musical genious. And he mad a mistake it should serve no more then a month in jail, if even that long.

Posted at 3:02PM on Nov 19th 2007 by Meka

115. Wow Meka...so if a person is a "musical genius" they should be allowed to have sex with underage girls, piss on them, possibly drug them and have child pornography photos in their hotel room? All because they are a so-called musical genius? What have we come to black people? Don't forget, R Kelly is victimizing children that look like you and I. Is this the best that we can do? A month in jail? Are you for real? Sick...just sickening.

116. As I mentioned before, R. Kelly is a criminal, what so many fail to realize is this is the crime of an American male. Not a black man. Race is not the dividing line, if it was then it would matter that there are more white men registered as pedophiles then all other races combined and that there victims are often family members; that fact however is as in material as Kelly’s race. If profiling is your thing, look up Jack McClellan that’s the typical profile.

Now I agree there are many Issues in the black community, rap music being the sound track of that degradation. However using the misguided ventures of celebrities as a launch pad to attack an unrelated segment of society is ignorant at best, and malicious at worse.

When Lindsey Lohan gets busted for snorting cocaine no one places a stigma on 17-30 year old white girls. That’s her issue, not the issue of young white women in America. I can hear you arguing now but what about Marilyn Monroe, Dana Plato, Ana Nicole Smith etc … No I can’t “here you say that”, because no on makes that argument… because its silly.

If you have a contribution to make by all means please do, but let it be reasoned and founded; not conveniently mindless perpetuation of ignorance and malice.

117. All of you people who are saying "the teens should also be held accountable" should be ashamed of yourselves. You need to learn some child psychology before you say such things. If anyone else needs to be punished besides Kelly, it is the kids' parents who were obviously not doing their damn jobs.

I am a therapist who specialises in abused children. You must understand that kids, especially in the volatile early-mid teen years, are VERY open to suggestion and pressure, especially when someone is showering them with attention. If the child comes from a troubled or broken family, they are even more likely to fall for the ministrations of a child molestor.

Yes, young teens do have some understanding of right and wrong. But 99% of them are absolutely not able to make adult-level decisions. Nor can they see the psychology behind how a molestor grooms them and makes them *believe* that they are consenting. This is why children need parental supervision and guidance until they reach young adulthood.

I don't give a crap how many times a fourteen year old kid says "yes". A child is off limits, plain and simple. A child or young teen CANNOT give true consent because they cannot understand the real-life ramifications of it. That is not the way childrens' brains work yet- nor do they have the life experience necessary to know what they are getting into. This is why children and young teens are not allowed to vote or marry or drive, and why they also really shouldn't be sexually active (not matter how physically mature they are, or how "mature" society makes people think they are at young ages nowadays).

In my line of work, I have NEVER encountered a kid or young teen who truly wants to be sexually active with an adult. Nearly every time it's the same story: the kid is one who has been neglected or not particularly popular or loved. Their family has some troubles, and their parents are inattentive. Then this kid meets an adult- a predator-who gives them presents, lavishes them with attention, and tells them they love them- all the things the kid didn't get from his or her parents and family (imagine how well this would work on a young unpopular girl, if the predator were a FAMOUS SINGER!!!). Then, the child feels obligated to go along with the adult's (sick) sexual desires, because they fear losing the "love" they think they are getting. Eventually the molestor stops being so "loving" and starts just using the child outright.

So yeah, if you think a little thirteen or fourteen year old girl knows what she's doing when she says "okay" to a thirty year old man who wants to have sex with her, you are absolutely mistaken. Sorry for this very long post but those comments were really pissing me off- the level of ignorance is appalling.

118. How can people with any kind of conscience support R. Kelley? It is undeniable that he is guilty of raping children...but, people still say they support him. How are people able to disreguard this monster's history.
Lady shame on you for hanging around for 14 years.....unless.... where you holding the camera?

120. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!" I have not seen the video, and I feel that if the accusations are correct, then R. Kelly is definitely wrong, and should be penalized for his actions. Having said that, I don't feel that he is the only one in this situation that is guilty of something. Where were the parents of these girls? What have they taught their daughters? Whatever they have taught them, one thing for certain that they have not taught them is respect for oneself. They have not instilled in them the value of self-respect, pride, and morals. These girls were out looking for an easy way. They felt that they could get something out of participating in these acts. And now that they did not get what they thought they would get, their families and the public are sitting back pointing fingers. Those young girls should have never been placed in the situation where they had to belittle themselves to that extent. R. Kelly is not the only guilty party in this situation.
