Mad Mel

The Los Angeles Lakers trounced the Chicago Bulls last night at Staples Center, much to the chagrin of Mel Gibson and his son.

Courtside seats for Lakers games usually run over $2,000 a piece. Why's Mel so glum? Perhaps because he was roundly booed when his face appeared on the Jumbotron. We're told that Mel then stuck out his tongue, causing further booing.

80. Hey, I hate booing at anything, I think it shows poor sportsmanship, but, If we can listen to everyone's complaining about prayer in schools and moments of silence, etc, because it is their RIGHT to have "freedom of speech", which our forefathers have fought for, then what the heck, let Mel speak his mind even if he was drinking or whatever. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it seems, why not Mel? You can't even say Merry Christmas anymore without hearing how you offended one of 14% of our country. Leave him alone when he is trying to have a nice night with his son. While it is their RIGHT to boo someone, please have respect fot the kid. None of it is his fault. How would you feel if you saw your father booed? All of our parents have done something that you wished they wouldn't have, imagine if it was headline news? Give the kid a break.

81. It's not the kids fault. His dad should keep him away from the cameras. Not center court.

83. What Mel did wasn't right.....and I think he realizes that. What these people did in front of his son is just as bad if not worse....almost always worse when kids are involved. I guess they wouldn't mind if someone walked up to them while they were with their child and told the kid that their Dad once booed a father in front of his son and made the little kid embarassed and sad. I'm sure they were all drunk too....but, guess that's okay..."cuz, he started it".

85. Sounds like you guys commenting are pretty jealous! Yeah, he is rich and can afford $2,000 seats...because we all bought tickets to see his movies. We created him people! Also, Alcoholism is a disease ....it's not something to poke fun at. At least he is with his kids doing something...when was the last time you took your kids out and did something special?

87. let it go. yeah, he was a drunken idiot who said hateful things and because he's a celeb he got way more heat than ordinary shmoes. and it isn't for the drunk driving that he was booed, or a LOT more celebs wouldn't be able to go anywhere without being harrassed.

but this was a year ago...the guy apologized...can't we just let it go??? he didn't murder dogs or download kiddie porn. he's just a putz.

89. Is Just my Opinion (JMO) gone yet?? JMO said Kathy was getting on their nerves but JMO is reallllly getting MY nerves and apparently a few others nerves too. What a mean spirited person with a mean spirited opinion. Get over picking on Mel, find a new scapeboat for your own unhappiness. Most people learn to forgive and forget and get off their own high horses before they find themselves falling off!! Shame on JMO for not caring about others feelings, and shame on JMO particularly for the callous attitude to what Mel's young son was exposed to just for going out to a game with his Dad. What? Mel is supposed to hole up somewhere in case he encounters the likes of those who booed. I think it's those who booed who need to hole up somewhere and take a good look at themselves and their cruel, rude and immature behavior! What kind of a society have we become when there are those who condone this horrible attitude to someone who clearly publically stated his regrets for his own transgressions Whatever happened to "forgive us our transgressions as we forgive those trangress us! Would you want to have this happen to you JMO?? Oh, yeah you probably never made a mistake in your life!
