Dennis Quaid and Wife Issue a Statement

Dennis Quaid's rep issued the following statement to TMZ: Dennis and Kimberly appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers and hope they can maintain their privacy during this difficult time.

As TMZ first reported, their newborn twins are currently in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, after getting a massive overdose of the anti-coagulant drug Heparin.

181. I am a retired nurse and the pharmacy tech and the nurst should be held responsible.
This happened in our state of Indiana to babies in the hospital due to error. Obviously the bottle wasn't checked and should have had 2 nurses check before given!!!!!
A friend of mine died in Fla a few years ago.was given wrong dosage of Lasix and he died.
Medical errors are preventable and should have 2 nurses check potent drugs.

183. In Texas if the wrong leg is amputated for example ..the case goes to the Texas Legislature and the most a victim can receive is 250K ...This was passed over 2 years ago to bring down costs relating to medical malpractice ...since then the costs have gone to the moon. In fact, medical malpractice litigation is relatively uncommon, when
compared to other tort litigation or to the potential number of medical liability
claims. Only about one out of fifty valid medical malpractice events in this
country is ever made the subject of a claim for injury. As a practical matter,
physicians are seldom exposed to claims arising from professional negligence. You should always have someone in the hospital with a loved one because I have been in the hospital with my mother 5 times this year and it can be scary to see what happens in these places. They are understaffed on purpose, tests are run without notice or approval, disregard of family requests, never listening to the family about the condition of the patient and meds given, losing paperwork on the patient..etc

184. In response to # 152... You're an IDIOT. (see idiot quote below)

" I still can't fugure out why she had to have a surrogate? Was she too good to have her own kids? Didn't want to be pregnant? Feel sorry for the babies, though. Too bad they can't have a REAL mom...."

What do you mean that they can't have a "REAL" mom? Just because you deliver a child it doesn't make you a "real" mom. Just take a look at all the abused, neglected children that end up in the system. Your comments were totally wrong and out of line.

My thoughts and prayers are going out to the Twins and the whole Quaid family. May they stand strong during this difficult time and that those precious little babies are soon home in mommy and daddys arms with no lasting effects from this avoidable tragedy. God Bless you!
