Dennis Quaid's rep issued the following statement to TMZ: Dennis and Kimberly appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers and hope they can maintain their privacy during this difficult time.
As TMZ first reported, their newborn twins are currently in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, after getting a massive overdose of the anti-coagulant drug Heparin.

65. My thoughts and payers go out to Dennis Quaid and his wife...I too am a nurse and I am sure the nurse that made the mistake is sick over this. Unfortunately I doubt the press will leave them alone, although I do hope they update us and let us know when the kids are OK!

68. 1st. Reporting this story does not violate the Quaid's request for privacy. As long as the reporting comes from official statements from the family or those officially representing the family, or from officials themselves. And as long as the family is not pestered or even asked to comment on the situation. If they offer a statement, take it. If not, leave them alone. However, covering what is happening, as long as those lines are not crossed, does not violate their privacy. It also keeps those of us who care advised of progress as we continue to pray for this precious family. I hope TMZ and other media don't cross those lines.
2nd. Those people on this story and the one previously that announced what happened who make ridiculous and cruel statements do so only for shock value and to get all of you tied in a wad so you will respond to them. That is their payoff. So don't give them the attention they crave. Doing so only gratifies them. No matter how much hatefulness is in your comment toward them and their comments, that's the payoff they were looking for. Ignore them. They don't deserve our time or attention. Everyone knows what they are like by reading their statements, so don't gratify them by giving them what the want. JMHO.

70. this has happened previously. i am a father of twins and a physician and i find it amazing that this kind of mistake can be made in this day and age. we radio tag neonates, security to the max, pyxis systems requiring fingerprints to open, double count narcotics, etc; yet they had concentrated heparin in the neonatal nursery?? shame on Cedars Sinai. it's reputation is tarnished irreparably in my mind. any drug that could kill a baby in overdose shouldn't be near them, period. antibiotics, iv fluids, antipyretics and that's about it. don't even heparin flush the lines! my god, it's awful. I pray for them. Those sick comments are from gene deficient low lifes who obviously have had zero input to society. you are the ones we should anticoagulate, then take a bat to your heads...bastards. sorry, i am fired up on this one!
