Dennis Quaid's rep issued the following statement to TMZ: Dennis and Kimberly appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers and hope they can maintain their privacy during this difficult time.
As TMZ first reported, their newborn twins are currently in the neo-natal intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, after getting a massive overdose of the anti-coagulant drug Heparin.

77. I'm so sorry for the Quaids.. It was probably due to some illiterate, foreign "nurse" that was brought over from some other country to work at a lower wage than American nurses will work for. What a shame.

83. 1st. Reporting this story does not violate the Quaid's request for
privacy. As long as the reporting comes from official statements from
the family or those officially representing the family, or from
officials themselves. And as long as the family is not pestered or
even asked to comment on the situation. If they offer a statement,
take it. If not, leave them alone. However, covering what is
happening, as long as those lines are not crossed, does not violate
their privacy. It also keeps those of us who care advised of progress
as we continue to pray for this precious family. I hope TMZ and other
media don't cross those lines.
2nd. Those people on this story and the one previously that announced
what happened who make ridiculous and cruel statements do so only for
shock value and to get all of you tied in a wad so you will respond
to them. That is their payoff. So don't give them the attention they
crave. Doing so only gratifies them. No matter how much hatefulness
is in your comment toward them and their comments, that's the payoff
they were looking for. Ignore them. They don't deserve our time or
attention. Everyone knows what they are like by reading their
statements, so don't gratify them by giving them what the want. JMHO.

86. what makes a nurse who made a mistake a neoliberal democrat? What exactly do they have to do with each other? This tragedy was not the mistake of one individual. The pharmacy (several different technicians) stocked the wrong dose of Heparin and the nurses gave a medication without double checking it first.
