Dr. Adams -- Donda OD? I Dunno Yet

Dr. AdamsWhen she left his office, Dr. Jan Adams says that Donda West was suffering "no problems whatsoever" -- but he does have his theories about what might have caused her death.

Adams told the L.A. Times that he prescribed Vicodin to Dr. West for pain, and that she probably had "a rough night" post-surgery. When asked if he thought she could have taken too many painkillers, Adams said, "That's one speculation on my part, yes." Adams also told the paper, "I believe I know exactly what happened to her, but I will not comment on it until I see the final report."

In an odd twist, hours after his interview with the Times ended, he called the paper to say that he had not been talking about West's case in particular -- but rather about a hypothetical patient facing similar problems.

TMZ was the first to speak to Dr. Adams after Donda West died. He told us that her death -- which followed a breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction -- was unforeseen and could have been caused by a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or massive vomiting.

The Los Angeles County Coroner completed a preliminary autopsy report, but hasn't mentioned drugs as having played a role in Donda's death -- the initial review found that West died "as a result of surgery or anesthesia.: They have opened an investigation.

16. Ok, this guy's obviously an alcoholoic. I mean, look at all his recent pictures - that's a drunk's face if I've ever seen one. Who knows what else he's on. I gather that at some point, since he completed some years of residency and other training in plastic surgery, his skill level was decent, but he let the booze take over and got a big head from being on Oprah and the Discovery Channel. This is a tragedy that, unfortunately, happens all too often in medicine. Let it be a lesson to everyone - plastic surgery is not a joke, it is real surgery and it has to be done by really skilled plastic surgeons. Check your doctors qualifications before undergoing any procedure. He (and now we find out neither is Dr. Rey from that other show) is not certified by the plastic surgery board, so there's no way to gauge his skill level. That's why they have board exams.

24. Didn't like what I said so they took it down. I stand behind every word and as time goes on, more incidents like this one will occur because people are too worried about being called a racist to handle these matters in the appropriate fashion.

26. I think its very interesting that a man that has gain respectablity in his profession, actally host a show on the Discovery Channel is not being victimized by the media. Are you sure you folks are not look at his skin to judge his guilt or innocence. Every plastice surgeon gets sued and loses (thats why they pay a grip for malpractice) Sometimes these loses are due to patient neglegence. How about you folks wait to hear all the facts be for being so judgemental and some cases racist in your assault on this man. If the real facts come out and he is guilty , fine so be it let the civil and legal system do its job otherwise BACK OFF. You folks sound like a witch hunt. You don't care if he is guilty, and some case you are attacking because he is a Black doctor.

28. I wonder if Dr Adams even had any malpractice insurance when he worked on Donda West? This is a quote from the LA Times: "Adams also said his malpractice insurance had periodically lapsed due to his failure to pay premiums on time" Wow! That is scary!

30. Is Dr. Adams retarded?! This has HIPAA violation written ALL over it! Probably why he called back to say everything he said was about a "hypothetical patient". Geez!
