Emotional Kanye -- My Mom Was My First Fan

Kanye has been tight-lipped on the death of his mother, but on Sunday night at a concert in Belgium, he talked to the audience about his feelings on continuing to perform, the media and what people have been advising him to do since the tragedy.

After West finished talking, he paid an amazing musical tribute to his mom. You gotta watch.

31. I just pulled this off of the local news site. (just for Qoutes) We will see if he is here! I hope so. It would be in very bad taste not to be.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Grammy-winning hip-hop star Kanye West is expected to be in Oklahoma City today for a private funeral service for his mother. Oklahoma City native Donda West died November 10th in Marina Del Rey, California, from what the Los Angeles County coroner says may be complications from cosmetic surgery. The 58-year-old was a 1967 graduate of Douglass High School in Oklahoma City and attended Virginia Union University before receiving her master's degree from Atlanta University and her doctorate from Auburn University in Alabama.

32.
# 8 needs to chill with the control, I didn't read anything that called for that over dramatic post.
Many have had a parent pass away and no just how it feels.
The grieving process in front of thousands, not so much.
Maybe he dont want to be alone just yet.

33. Who cares if you think he should go crawl in a fetal position and mourn his mother's passing. People mourn in different ways and nobody should judge how they choose to do so. If you had watch the Youtube clip he basically says what is obvious to most. His mother was his 1st fan, his biggest fan and she wouldn't want him to do anything that he is doing now. Kanye loves his mother and wouldn't do anything she wouldn't want for him. Kudos to Kanye to the way he honored his mother while she was living with his songs about her and I hope he gets through this horrible time the best way HE KNOW HOW. I am a mother and wouldn't want for my child to be wallowing in grief. I would want her to move on the best way she knew how, however she can in the most healthiest of ways. Sure Kanye is arrogant but so what, he's earned it. Haters!!!!!!!!!!!!

34. I must say, he's really a strong guy with a lot of heart. That was a beautiful tribute to his mom, but it must still be very hard for him. Nevertheless, her memory will always live on in him - he is the incarnation of her hopes, her dreams and he must go on and be the best Kanye she raised him to be.

36. Whatever #37. Last I checked, this was the United States Of America, not the United States Of White America or even the United States Of Black America. The white side does its share of crap too and don't give me "there are more blacks doing this or doing that" argument.

I look at it this way. If you were so perfect, you wouldn't be here would you? You'd be helping God run Heaven. You got to wipe your ass on the toliet just like I do and everyone else. The way I see it, all races have some cleaning up in their cultures, not just the black race and using terms like that doesn't help at all.

In fact, I would bet you'd still would call us that word even if we did do all that you are sarcastically suggesting we do. Just by you using the word is suggesting hatred and disrespect. And yeah, I would even say that to even my own black brethren too.

Besides, that's getting off the point. I don't like Kanye either but using a posting site about his deceased mother to spread your twisted views says more about you than African-Americans.

37. i am not a fan of kanye's. in fact i find him to be an arrogant prick. however, i don't think his feelings regarding his mother should be put under question because he decided to continue on with his tour. i lost my dad three months ago and a week after his funeral i immersed myself in my job.
my regards

45. Family should ALWAYS come first. He can throw himself into his music / work AFTER he puts his mother to rest. It's called respect....something Kanye lacks.
