Rhys Meyers -- It's Happy Hour Somewhere!

Jonathan Rhys Meyers said last year he would never drink again. Twice in the last three days does not constitute "never."

Sporting a pair of unfortunate mUggs (man-Uggs), Meyers was seen at 10:00 AM today in London, holding a can of Strongbow Super -- an alcoholic cider that is 7.5% ABV (alcohol by volume -- regular beer is around 5%). Super indeed!

The "Match Point" star was busted Sunday morning after he allegedly got rowdy at Dublin Airport. He was charged with public drunkenness and breach of the peace.

16. He is probably trying to keep withdrawals from coming on. That's what heavy drinkers do. They'll have a couple in the morning to "level themselves out for a while" so they can keep bad shakes from coming on. Ask any alcoholic. He'll need a couple more in several hours or it's shakes time again.

19. Lads, seriously, just cos he got pissed one day and got arrested does not make him an alcoholic, its the duty of every irish person to piss off the Gardaí at some stage, sure thy're not doing anything else! As for #15, you don't need to be an alcoholic to get shakes, any person who wakes up on Saturday after a good session would have them. Americans seem to have an obsession with rehab and psyciatric therapy and the likes, he just got drunk for christ sake!

20. Oh - and I don't know a SINGLE person who has not said "I'm never drinking again" in a moment of hungover madness..................................

21.

He would have been too tame to arrest in L.A. even if he were screaming, blathering drunk.

Just seeing the actions of some of the club-goers on TMZ video makes me want to puke.

Getting snot-slinging drunk, pin-prick eyeball high, showing T&A, and puking in public is the standard fare at the L.A. club scene.

Hell, even a drunken, high, car-jacking kidnapping didn't even turn an eyelash on the D.A.'s face.

What a place.

23. true, he probably did say he was never drinking again in one of those moments we all have but, he was dumb enough to say it on camera and seriously it's just a GOOD idea to not have a drink for like a week or two or a MONTH after you get arrested for public drunkeness or whatever the particular charge was.

24. I like he is delicious and very talented, possibly a little stressed and that is just how he handles it. Give the guy a break!

25. Graine, You are correct, you don't have to be an alcoholic to get the shakes. But considering this guys past drinking problems, the fact he was soo drunk a couple of days ago, and the fact he feels it neccessary to drink at 10:00 in the morning (in public, which he probably just grabed that from a store), kind of leaves a person to beleive he probably is an alcoholic who really needed that drink at that time. BTW, I'm not a big proponant of rehab facilities, they fail most of time. People do have their own power to clean up. Just make sure you first see your family physican to get a sedetive if you're going to quit cold turkey.

26. No, Ash, #14, that's definitely Strongbow. Which by the way, is AWESOME!!!!

27. That's too funny! I know exactly where that pub is in Bloomsbury. TMZ....he doesn't tuck himself in at 9p.m. like you do everynight. 10:00 a.m.?? He is probably on his way HOME from last night so why is it too early? Give the guy a break. London is a fun city, he is young, a celebrity, rich, blah blah blah....let him have his fun.
Don't you have a Britney story to do?
peace

28. mmmmm Strongbow..................prefer Bulmers myself...................

There's a difference of culture here....in Ireland and England grabbing an early drink really isn't unusual.

29. Haha well said "spread the love" !!! I've never been to the states so I don't know what time parties finish up at over there but its normal to still be keeping it going the next morning over here.

30. Give this guy a break!!! I'm sure he regrets slipping back into something he has said he doesn't particularly like, so don't flip out when he makes a little error. Media enhances any situation to bring the person down so they'll have some story to report on.

Speking for myself and all JRM fans, we hope you're doing well and love your work!!!
