Dr. Adams Won't Talk, Neither Will Oprah

The doctor who operated on Kanye West's mom the day before she died bailed on Larry King last night, but his reasons for walking off the set don't add up.


TMZ has broken story after story, showing Dr. Adams has had multiple malpractice lawsuit filed against him, sexual battery allegations, three DUIs and a domestic violence restraining order.
The director of the Medical Board of California is currently going after his license.

So when Dr. Adams told Larry King the West family didn't want him talking, in reality he had plenty to talk about that did not involve Dr. Donda West.

And speaking of not talking, TMZ has been hounding Oprah, NBC and Discovery Health for more than a week, asking if they did background checks before putting Dr. Adams on the air. If they did, they would have discovered -- for starters -- that he's not a board certified plastic surgeon.


Oprah's company and NBC, which featured Dr. Adams on "The Other Half," have been completely unresponsive -- not a word. Discovery Health, which put Dr. Adams in a starring role in a plastic surgery series, finally responded yesterday claiming they did a background check but refused to say what it turned up.

31. The fact is, she knew other physicians required more extensive medical testing and she turned her back on those doctors. Having had a few procedures myself -- to look younger and more attractive in my own mirror, mentioned only to say, she wanted the surgery PRONTO and signed paperwork that would make a future lawsuit impossible. She was warned!!!!! So sad, she was a wonderful woman, but the fact is, she and only she is culpable. Put me on the jury!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Granny

To those who'd trust a plastic surgeon who isn't board certified and allow them to essentially fillet them like a fish and put them back together again, maybe you really need a psychiatrist and not a plastic surgeon. You only have one body. But if you're that insistent that it doesn't matter, then by all means, go on ahead and do whatever. Just don't come crying to me (the public) or the courts when you end up disfigured or worse.

People like Oprah have a responsibility to check out the quacks that they parade on their shows, especially if it involves elective invasive surgery. I'd love to hear her comment on this issue. I'm sure she will once she's carefully parsed each and every word, dissected by her high paid attornies. And no, she won't invite this Adams monster back on as the stink of death is much worse than some random guy's made up fantasy book ala "A Million Little Pieces." So easy to dress that guy down. He could have easily called it a novel and she would have loved it. Nobody died, no harm done, except to her ego so she destroys him. Adams, no comment.

She needs to stop giving so much advice about people's bodies, minds and souls and do more silly shows about cute lingerie and the latest products for your pampered poodle. Yes, those cupcakes are yummy at Williams Sonoma. And those crochet boots, everybody's gotta get those!

35. I dont understand why TMZ keeps trying to get a comment from Oprah on this topic. She has nothing to do with Donde West nor Jan Adams. She already said that they were both guests on her show in different years and that she didnt introduce them. I dont understand why TMZ keeps trying to get anything further out of Oprah. Shame on you TMZ for trying to bring Oprah's name into this and trying to insinuate that she has anything to do with Adams and West.

36. I am glad TMZ is on top of this story and brought to light the creep that Jan Adams is. Oprah, Discovery and NBC should have done the research that TMZ has done instread of having them on their shows and essentially endorsing this unprofessional poor excuse of a doctor.

Lots of people are vain that doesn't mean they should die because of some quack piece of crap who's not board certified granted if one doctor told her no before she should have backed off. But seeing how much pressure on top of pressure we women put on ourselves and each other DUH people tend to get desperate and that can affect EVERYONE. 39. Larry King bails on his guests everynight..it happens just after he says hello..Who the hell cares if he walked off...King doesn't even know who his guests are, half the time..That said..what difference does it make about the board certification? Nothing..Nada, Zip..

How do his malpractice suits compare on a state average? How about an average for the nation? Is the malpractice suit rate higher for plastic surgery than other fields of medicine?

Post the background checks for your employees without their consent and let's see what happens...

Sexual battery allegations? Any convictions? Post them or shut up about it..unless you have a conviction, you don't have squat except he said/ she said

Let's talk about the fact that Dr. West may have doctor shopped after she was turned down by one doctor because of her health...you do remember posting that don't you?

It's obvious Dr. West had psychological issues involving "good" looks, youth, and weight. Adams took advantage of a bad situation but probably broke no law.

Why single out this one doctor ? Aren't the laws the real problem ?

41. Everyone keeps saying Oprah did not do her homework. What works for Oprah does not work for everyone. Lets not forget, no disrespect to Kanye, but I would think his Mother is smart enough (per her credentials) to do her own homework. When I went under the knife, I did not take anyone's word about how good the surgeon was. I simply went to the internet, checked to make sure the doctor was board certified and if the doctor had any malpractice suits. So, lets not make it Oprah's fault. Surgery is serious. Why not do your own homework to have a piece of mind.
