She Never Said Goodbye

The 58-year-old survivor turned up to sign copies of her new holiday CD in NYC last week. Back from outer space!
Gloria Gaynor
Since her disco days, Gloria has become a born-again Christian and has reportedly made some controversial remarks about her large gay fan base. How lovely of her.

166. Boston Belle,
You can point out all my grammatical errors and that is fine with me. Yes I did go to private and public schools here in America. But writting was not my forte'... I also said that I could hardly keep my eyes open after reading all of your rambling comments which was the truth plus after flying back and forth for 4 consecutive days, had jet lag. So you can play english teacher, all you want doesn't bother me in the least. ...
You state your job is on the computers all day and your self employed. I too, am on a computer all day, and I assume you too work at home, same for me. In fact, the line of work I do is in the health care insurance. I am an advocate for a better health care system for America, but on the prescription side of a health care plan.
I will tell you I am not a backer of President Bush and his administration. In fact I feel the same about this President like many others. But I too respect him because he is the President. Believe it or not I am not a Republican nor a Democrate, just a proud American. I love what America stands for, a melting pot for all races, religions and beliefs.
I am not a bigot!!I have friends who I collaborate in my line of business who are Muslims I have always been respectful to them. I have a women friend who is modern day Muslim. One of the kindest people I know, but I still do not agree with the treatment of women under these lawss. Women are not treated equal to men in Islam, So because I do not agree does not make me a bigot. Ok... So please quit trying to read into something that is not there. Like I said before, I mean what I say and I say what I mean, Period!!
No, I did not know that current events like calling President Bush a "Shrub" is current when this liberal editor, past away some time this year. He is called many things by many different people. Sorry, can't keep with all the name calling of the President.
When I mention the instance in Saudi,Sudan and the Canadian Muslim teenager their situations were religious based punishment, the ones you mention with Christian killing Christians were not killings based on religious beliefs. It was not the reason that Mrs Yates killed her children nor the Oklahoma tradedy or the women who killed her husband who was a preacher. It was eratic behavior. That is the difference.
Yes I know that there are Christian in Israel but Israel is the only country in which Judaism is the religion of the majority of citizens. According to the country's Central Bureau of Statistics, in 2005, 2.1% were Christians. Most citizens in the State of Israel are Jewish, and most Israeli Jews practice Judaism in some form. That is a fact.
Another fact is that if there are countries who do not like America, again do not expect any help from America or Americans. When Saddam Huessian invaded Kuwait, it was Saudi Arabia who asked United States to help to protect them. Yes, we the hated Americans pushed the Iraqies out of Kuwait, Our men and women died to help out 2 countries. We the hated Americans who help aided Indonesia afte the horrific devastation of the tsunami. We America and Americans gave more money that any other country or people. They hate us but love our money to help them. That is why I said, it is fine if you hate us but don't ask anything from us no matter what your situation may be. We as a whole are a very generous and giving nation. So yes, I will always stand up straight with my head held high because I am a proud American and I will always be a proud American and I am sorry that these people who hate us do not feel that way about their own country. That is not Americans fault.
I know the Declaration of Indepence again I have many family and friends who has fought for this country for you to be able to say The Declaration of Indepence. You asked if I read it, i asked you would YOU defend it? You can read it but you don't know what it truely means unless you would be willing to defend it. And that is what the difference is between you and me. I was raised to defend it.. You are one of those people who may have read it but would want some else to defend it. Do you think that was the beliefs of the Founding Fathers? To be honest, it has been many, many years that I had read it, along with the Bill of Rights,Magna Carta, and The United States Constitution . But I wil, maybe on the 4th of July, Memorial Day or Veterns Day want better time to read it.
In New Testament, speaks that "Men should love their wives,as Christ loves his church." Does that mean men did not beat their wives and children if they were Christians, probably not, but again that was the mind set back in those times, but that was the reason it was written to make changes..Mans wealth was measured by how many wives, children, land, herds, etc, that they possessed.
In regards to the scripture, about "Do not try to take a speck, splinter or mote.(what ever) out of my eye, when you have a log in yours :....does not change the meaning. You are just looking for fault. That is pathetic for you to try to make some controversy over which word it should be used. Then you some how use that to base it on some educational scale????. ...You don't know what whole scripture meant, went right over your head, and then you talk about education? Have you ever heard a person called...an educated idiot? I rest my case. Yes I do not read the King James version
Yes I am royalty, I am a child of The Most High God, he is my Father....I have royal blood flowing in my veins. I have seen many, many miracles , and experience a true, personal relationship with my God. We Christian have so much joy ,happiness and hope in abundance. Not to say we don't have problems in our lives but we can go through the fire without getting burnt.. So the world hated Jesus so they too will hate Christians. We do not steal from other religions, we are not part of this world.. We celebrate Dec 25th as Jesus Christ birthday and that going on all around the world.
Just because I am happy who I am does not make me a bragger, and some how in that small limited mind of yours, you look for fault and that tells me how unhappy you are with yourself. Yes there are going to be hypocrites in every religion I myself had seen that in the Christian faith but that is not going to deter me way from who Jesus is,. It is called discernment. Who wants to be blamed for others bad actions? I wouldn't and neither would you. What is the best virtue about him, is he doesn't care who you are, where you came from or what you have done, he loves us all the same.
Yes I have the best 2 worlds in one. That is why I am a happy, free, proud Christian American woman... who will be celebrating a very special birth. When I say hissing, that is the ugly head of anger, rage, unhappiness that rears its head to make you upset because I am happy who I am. and it wants you to try to tear that down in me . Your accusations of me being uneducational, bigot, a bragger, etc does not change anything in my life. I know who I am/
But I must apologize to you also, because I got pulled into this by that same spirit. I just do not like how TMZ profiles a person who at one time was a celebrity and adds their religious beliefs It was just a picture of before and now. Does that change Gloria Gaynor's talent which made her? What is the point for TMZ noting that she is a Christian only for people to try to ridicule her whicht hey succeeded.
Anyway since you don't believe in Christmas, then Happy Midwinter, I have no ideal what that is.? My calender says we are starting into winter.
Seriously I hope you find what you are looking for..and that the year 2008 is a happy year in every way.

167. You can point out all my grammatical errors and that is fine with me. Yes I did go to private and public schools here in America. But writting was not my forte'...

Writing was not your forte. Truer words were never written. The point is not only can't you write but you can't or won't proofread. Your schools failed you or perhaps they should have.

In fact, the line of work I do is in the health care insurance. I am an advocate for a better health care system for America, but on the prescription side of a health care plan.

I am frightened by the idea that someone who can barely read and cannot write is advocating for anything. Perhaps you should be advocating for the education system. You could have used the "No child left behind" program.

I will tell you I am not a backer of President Bush and his administration. In fact I feel the same about this President like many others. But I too respect him because he is the President.

I respect the office of the President of the United States. I do not respect everyone who holds that office. Several of them have been atrocious and I'm not necessarily thinking of the ones that most people consider in that light.

Believe it or not I am not a Republican nor a Democrate, just a proud American. I love what America stands for, a melting pot for all races, religions and beliefs.

It also stands for law and justice which this president has not. The Bush government has broken many of our laws in the name of safety. The founding fathers would be appalled at what has become of their country.

You remind me of all the racial and religious bigots I have ever known. "Oh, I'm not prejudiced against (fill in the blank). Why some of my best friends are (blank)." You also remind me of a Dr. Seuss book. "I mean what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant is faithful one hundred percent."

No, I did not know that current events like calling President Bush a "Shrub" is current when this liberal editor, past away some time this year. He is called many things by many different people. Sorry, can't keep with all the name calling of the President.

Ok. I'll give you credit for that one. I'm sure I don't know all of the nicknames either.

I didn't mention the Oklahoma tragedy. That was a case of totally misguided, even evil, men who thought they were patriots. Real patriots do not kill children or any other innocent people. I think you'll agree with me on that. The case I was referring to was in Colorado where a man killed fellow christians specifically because they were christians of his own sect. Also, Mrs. Yates killed her children in the belief that God told her to and the woman who killed her preacher husband did so because he failed to follow the commandments he preached. The fact that they were christian is pertinent.

Yes I know that there are Christian in Israel but Israel is the only country in which Judaism is the religion of the majority of citizens. That is a fact.

It is a fact that Israel is the only country that legislates Judaism as the official religion and that the country is run by the most conservative branch of Judaism (except the Hasidim but I don't think they're allowed to be involved in secular life.)

It is a principle philosophy of this country (or at least has been) that we defend those who need defending whether we agree with them (or even like them) or not. As far as natural disasters such as the tsunami is concerned, I gave money to help the people not their government. That is common charity. I'm surprised that you, as a christian, don't understand that. However, I think that you will agree with me that a major problem with much of our foreign aid is that it doesn't end up helping the people it is meant for but is grabbed by the government officials for their own enrichment.

I would suggest that you might also enjoy the movie "1776". It was taken from the writings of the people involved. My family watches it every 4th of July. I defend the principles set forth in the Declaration, the Constitution and the Magna Carta almost daily (although the last has, in the main part, been superseded by the other two and the codified laws of this country.) I doubt anyone would want me to physically defend it in battle since I am nearly blind, have arthritis in most of my joints and cannot walk without a cane. For similar reasons, my father did not fight in WWII. Instead he worked as a chemist making weapons for the soldiers who actually were fighting. Other relatives were on the front lines in that and other wars before and since.

That does not change the fact that so many christians give only lip service to their beliefs.

You may be in the right there. There are many translations, some better than others, and to argue precise wording is petty when it is the concept that is important. However, my argument, that you are the one who can't see your own errors, stands. Sorry you haven't read the King James. The language is beautiful.

Yes I am royalty, I am a child of The Most High God, he is my Father....I have royal blood flowing in my veins.

Sorry, that does not make you royalty. Merely blasphemous. Yahweh, according to your religion had only one begotten son. While you may be the spiritual child of God, you are still only human, not divine, not royal.

I have seen many, many miracles , and experience a true, personal relationship with my God. We Christian have so much joy ,happiness and hope in abundance.

Joy, happiness and miracles are not the sole province of christians or even the followers of any religion that takes Yahweh as their one, true god.

Not to say we don't have problems in our lives but we can go through the fire without getting burnt.. So the world hated Jesus so they too will hate Christians. We do not steal from other religions, we are not part of this world.. We celebrate Dec 25th as Jesus Christ birthday and that going on all around the world.

You definitely are not of this world. You live in some strange fantasy world of your own. And, yes, christianity has stolen from other religions whether you want to believe it or not. However, I know you won't. Your peculiar (and I'm using both meanings here) mindset won't let you.

Just because I am happy who I am does not make me a bragger, and some how in that small limited mind of yours, you look for fault and that tells me how unhappy you are with yourself.

Actually, I am very content with my life. I look around me and I see that I have accomplished almost everything I ever wanted to. I see many other people who have a large number of what I would consider blessings who are not content and I feel sorry for them. Perhaps it is you who are unhappy and trying to displace your disappointment with your life on others. Don't feel too bad about that. It's a very common psychological failing.

That is true of all worthwhile religions. I do not condemn you for being a christian. I condemn you for attacking people who believe in other religions and thus the religion itself. I think I wrote in some earlier posting that, as a Unitarian, I believe there is some truth in all religions.

I am happy that you know who you are and are happy with it. Everyone should have the self confidence to accept themselves as they are. Even if they are wrong. If I got under your skin then maybe you'll think twice before attacking other people's religions in the future. Remember, this all started because you questioned whether my religion would allow me to enter your religion's heaven (which sounds like a very boring place to me.)

I agree with you there. Her religion really has nothing to do with her talent and her career and the fact that she looks fantastic for her age. We should all look so good at that age.

Anyway since you don't believe in Christmas, then Happy Midwinter, I have no ideal what that is.? My calender says we are starting into winter.

The calendar has shifted over the centuries. Midwinter is also known as the Longest Night and is celebrated because the morning proves that the world will continue for one more year instead of being swallowed by eternal night. You might know it from the old Christmas carol, "In the bleak midwinter when half-spent was the night."

Seriously I hope you find what you are looking for..and that the year 2008 is a happy year in every way.

Despite our occasionally rancorous debate, I, too, wish you a happy and healthy New Year. I have found what I have always been looking for and I hope you receive all possible blessings from your God.
