"Bachelor" Byron Gets His Ass Kicked

Byron Velvick, star of "The Bachelor" season six, was attacked by the woman he picked to marry on the show.
Mary Delgado
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department, Mary Delgado punched Byron, causing his upper lip to bleed. She was arrested in Tampa, Florida for alleged domestic battery.

The incident occurred Wednesday just after midnight. Cops say alcohol was a factor.

Ironically, the couple appeared this past Tuesday on "The Bachelor," following the rose ceremony and made it clear they were heading for the altar. Seems their plans may have just gotten altered.

Stay tuned.

76. What the he*l did he do to make a GIRL take a swing at him? I doubt he's innocent, but assault is wrong, and the girl needed to control herself. Domestic battery works both ways.

77. he is SO not innocent. they probably had a talk about the wedding and he said he didn't want it and she swung at him. And what p*ssy man calls the cop on his girlfriend? How sad for her. No its not a double standard. Men are stronger than woman and they shouldn't hit us. We shouldn't hit either but i bet he deserved it.

78. I'm glad he called the police. No one, man or woman, should put it with physical violence. I think it shows that he is a strong person (he knew that there would be people calling him a sissy for doing it). It just shows that he doesn't live his life according to what others think of him. I will take all of this back if he keeps seeing her. If he wastes another minute on her he is an idiot. She seemed emotionally unstable, like she has multiple personalities, when she was on The Bachelor....she cried over EVERYTHING.

79. Makes me wonder if it was a right cross, uppercut or just a quick right jab....
the next time he fouls up she should turn it up and kick him in the balls and
give him something to think about----they will not be any make up sex anyway....
Practice, practice, practice.

80. I cannot understand why people continue to believe in the whole "Bachelor" concept. The whole show is set up to gurantee that the men do not marry the women. If you want to set up a situation that will end up in men marrying women, you have to make the woman be the center of attention, and make her choose from 15 different men. That's the only way a man can be persuaded to marry a woman. When you have it the other way around, and men choose the women, their already small brains become even more confused, and their egos begin swelling bigger and bigger, and by the time their done, they think, "uh-huh-duh.. if there's 15 women throwing themselves at me here, then surely I must be such a god I deserve to have 100 perfect virgins at any time and any place, and I'm much too good to get married"

The whole set up just induces further delusion on the part of the men, and decreases their willingness to commit. Marriage will only happen if it's the women picking the men.

81. The meat market concept of the Bachelor is degrading. I find the whole premise humiliating for the women. If I’m dating someone, if they’re also serial dating others, I call it off due to lack of sincerity and genuineness. If they want to find out if we are suited, date me alone and find that out one way or the other with a little one on one time. Don’t disrespect me by throwing others into the mix like you’re all that, and my feelings are not worth considering but your need for multiples is. If a guy wants others too, I set him free, permanently. No harm, no foul. If he wants to miss a lifetime of my good cooking, and all that other good stuff, that’s O.K. by me.

82. Finding a mate on these shows is like meeting people on the internet and falling in love after meeting...it normally doesn't work. Maybe her and Jen Shefft from when Andrew Firestone was on and they she had her own Bachelorette show should do a new show together.

83. I never liked Mary...could not believe that Byron picked her...I knew that her claws would come out eventially...and I don't for once believe that this is the first time she has hit him. I am glad that Byron is not married to her and he would have married her a long time ago if he was not worried about their relationship...she was a fool to move in with him...why pay for the cow scenerio...although it worked out in his favor...he found out. I remember on the ATRC for Brad and his two bachelorettes that he did not deserve...and Byron was not interested, IMO, in marrying Mary...not at all...he was probably dragged there and ABC paid out the butt to get him there...and we ALL know that Trista got her bank acct padded...she is after the bucks...just did not look good for either couple...even with Trista and Ryan...he looked like a kid and that tacky shirt with Trista in sequins? What an odd couple...paleeze...Brad did this show in for me...what a friggin looser...he gets uglier and uglier every time I see him...reminds me of my ex husband...LOSER

84. The whole concept of the Bachelor/Bachlorette series reminds me of the worst reality series ever. "Fear Factor". People willing to humiliate themselves. by eating CRAP on national T.V. for just a CHANCE to win money. Not the MONEY mind you, just the chance... Desperate people, all in all...

85. I agree with #12 and #15. IF it were a common occurence, and I seriously doubt that is the case, it'd be one thing. In that case, the "big man" should get the heck out before the "little woman" whips his azz . Seriously, alcohol can greatly affect the escalation of a domestic dispute. Who knows what the case or cause here really is? THEY do, the two people involved. Hopefully, these two are intelligent enough to get the help they need. ;^p

86. Hey Montana Mike,

No, I'm not Laila Ali, but she is a knockout in every sense of the word. If she'd hit the wimp, he would have a lot more to complain about than a bloody lip.
Honey, if you knew me, I guarantee you would not want to give me any reason to have to slap you. You'd be too anxious to get home at night. Have good evening, Cowboy.

87. The miracle of make-up. Did you see the picture of this woman's mugshot with no make-up? Jesus, God, somebody call Max Factor and have an emergency kit sent over to the jailhouse forthwith. It is funny as hell, but the days of women smacking men really needs to end. If we hit back, we go to jail. If they hit, it's all one, big joke. If men joked about kicking women in the crotch as often as they joke about kicking men in the crotch, it would cease to be....well, yeah, it would still be funny.

88. What kind of man calls the cops when a woman hits or abuses? A very smart man that is going to show her "game over". Women that support her or think she was provoked and somehow justifies using violence are nothing but double-standard, hypocritical, "do as we say, not as we do" girls. Notice I did not say "women". GIRLS. Little girls.
