Exhale! Malibu Fire Beginning to Subside

Los Angeles County Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman had a little bit of good news at his latest press conference -- "The fire activity has subsided considerably." Whew.

But it wasn't all good news. Freeman said that a total of 49 homes -- far exceeding last month's blaze -- have been confirmed destroyed. The fire is still at 25% containment, but Freeman says they are hoping to hit 50% by tomorrow evening. There is no explanation as to why this fire was so much more damaging than the last, Freeman says, other than "every fire is different."

There will be a list of all homes destroyed in the fire made available after 6:00 PM PST at www.ci.malibu.ca.us.

16. > 16. What an unfortunate tragedy for the residents of Malibu to be victims of two big wildfires almost back to back. But maybe they can take some comfort in knowing that the fire last month drove Britney away and this fire might convince her to stay away forever.

The fires last month did not drive Brit away from the house she leased in Malibu and it will not be this recent fire that causes her to stay away. Britney hightailed it out of that house before the fires last month and I am pretty sure that when she left she had no intentions to ever come back. Surely you are aware that since she leased that house Brit has spent very few days and nights there. Alli Sims was staying there with Britney and Brit has not spent one night alone in that house after Alli moved out. And you should recall that after Brit leased the house she and Alli spent most nights in hotels. That is because the house is apparently haunted and it appears the previous owner of the house, Alexi Csato, confirms that the house is haunted.

Excerpt from the Daily Star:

A previous owner of the ultra-exclusive home, French-born Alexi Csato, said: "The place is definitely haunted. My family had some extremely frightening supernatural experiences."

Alexi, who lived there with her Hungarian husband, added: "We traced the history of the place and believe the spirit of a tormented girl is trapped there.

"We discovered her burning ambition was to be a singer but she never realised her dream.

"Who knows what unearthly anger is burning inside her spirit now Britney, one of the world’s most famous pop singers, is living there?"

She went on: "We sold the house because we couldn’t stand it any more.

"There were all sorts of unexplained bumps and noises." Most chilling of all was the sound of a female voice hitting a note "like a high C."

She said: "My daughter and I heard it several times. It was definitely a girl’s voice.

"I’m not surprised Britney can’t bear to be there. If I’d known she was moving in, I’d have warned her."

17. Our heartfelt best wishes to those people who have lost their homes. Houses can be rebuilt, but fire takes cherished mementos, such as family photos, etc., that are impossible to replace. It is devastating.

Kudso to those brave fire fighters, and their ongoing efforts.
