NFL Star Shot in His Home, Fighting for His Life

Sean TaylorWashington Redskins Pro Bowl safety Sean Taylor was shot in his home and has been airlifted to a local hospital where he is in critical condition, police said today.

"It could have been a possible burglary, it could have been a possible robbery," Lt. Nancy Perez said. "It has not been confirmed as yet."

Local authorities were called to Taylor's Florida home at 1:45 AM today. The Miami Herald is reporting paramedics found Taylor with a gunshot wound to the groin. ABC-TV 10 in Miami says a family friend told them that Taylor was shot twice.

Taylor is no stranger to guns. Back in 2005, he was accused of brandishing a gun and repeatedly hitting a man during a fight. The felony charges against him were dropped, and he plead no contest to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to 18 months probation.

46. Why pay attention to the people posting with ridiculous comments. They are doing it for a reaction OR because they are actually that clueless. Sadly people get a rise out of making hateful and uninformed comments.

Stick to sending your support and prayers to this man and don't allow these other people to get to you. They don't know Sean Taylor nor do they know most of the people they make comments about. People prefer to believe the bad in everyone rather than look for the good. Why make time for their hate?

Sean Taylor is a father, son, boyfriend and friend to a lot of people, so lots of love and prayers go out to all of them. Sean is a true football talent and I know he is in A LOT of peoples thoughts!!! GO SKINS!!

47. I guess I misspoke krick. I should've said the majority of the people incarcerated. (stat prison, federal prison, and county jail combined) As far as me making the issue black and white, I have been reading the posts on this site for years and I constantly see post after post that skewer black people. Not just that, but I've been racially profiled by police, people in stores, teachers and school administrators, and virtually any other situation that I have ever been in! You can't blame a person for getting upset from time to time and lobbing a couple of insults back. If that makes me a douchebag then I'll be that, but I'm far from ignorant! As a matter of fact I'm tired of ignoring the hate that is thrown my way. Next time you go to your community college class you should ask your professor to explain to you what ignorant actually means!

49. Since I live right outside of DC I have been watching the local news, and I agree there is much more to this story than meets the eye.Joe Gibbs was on channel 4 saying that last week someone had also tried to break into his home. Now this has happened, this guy is not on the up,and up.According to the local news his father is Chief of Police down there, and there were 2 shots fired one hit the wall the other hit Taylor in the groin. With Daddy being the Chief be expecting a cover up.This was nothing, but him having to owe some money to a drug dealer or a bookie, and they came to collect.Either with money or his ass.

50. Um, Karen, a bit of a victim, poor us, mentality going on with this statement. African Americans were not the only race of people who were enslaved. Time to move on and stop using excuses to excuse amoral behaviour. I am inclined to agree with Pebbles.

51. FTWilliams,
Calling a man who may die at any moment a "P.O.S." is a very classy and mature statement! Grow Up!

52. Sara you're obviously going to take sides with him because you're a skins fan? He's spit on more then just Pittman,he's also spit on a fellow teammate.Just like anyone else who leads a life of crime whether famous or not the stigma of being a troublemaker will stay with you for many years whether you've cleaned up your act or not.Having kids or a family does not exclude people from being involved with crime. To..The truth, you're comment was so moronic I would say something about it but your blatant stupidity is all that needs to be said !!

54. Black people never see themselves the way they really are. I think it's because they aren't as evolved. There - I said it. That’s my theory. I don’t practice racism. I don’t treat black people any different. I do not partake in hate crimes, but to be honest, behind closed doors, I speak my mind. I know it comes across as “ignorant” to say they’re not “as evolved”, but that is truly what I think.

59. deepsix.... I couldn't agree with you more.

A MAN's life is at stake. And that is what we should focus on.
He lives a public life and it is easy for us to criticize him for his past mistakes.

I'm a Cowboys fan, but I look at this situation from a perspective of a man who has an 18 month old daughter that was changing his life.

I will jump to NO conclusions about what happened other than what the media is telling us.

The issue should not be about Sean Taylor the player or his troubled past.
The issue should be about a person fighting for their life with a family to leave behind.
If other thoughts are coming to your mind I suggest you take a deep breath and just step back from the computer.

Peace.
