Quiet Riot Singer Found Dead in His Vegas Home

DubrowLas Vegas Metro Police have confirmed to TMZ that 52-year-old Kevin Dubrow, lead singer for 80's metal band Quiet Riot, was found dead in his Las Vegas home.

We're told one of Dubrow's neighbors found the singer Sunday around 5:20 PM. The Clark County Coroner confirms to TMZ that they are currently examining Dubrow's body to try to determine the cause of death.

Fellow band member Frankie Banali posted this message on his website: "I can't even find words to say. Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend, Kevin DuBrow."

Quiet Riot was the first metal band to top the Billboard charts and are perhaps best known for their cover of "Cum on Feel the Noize"

211. How sad. =(( I have many good memories of the 80's, and Quiet Riot was a big part of that.

I find myself wondering though.... was Kevin related to plastic surgeon Terry Dubrow (from the TV show "The Swan")? There is quite a remarkable resemblance in their facial structures.

212. #213 please read #182. Except for the part which addresses the lowlife's on this site, which you are not, it was written for you. Hey Kevin, sorry I can't be at your funeral today. Please know I'm there in spirit. The next time I'm in town, I'll lay two flowers...one at your grave, and the other at the garage where Quiet Riot was born. I'm thinking you'd like that. Rest in peace............

213. I just read that the Vegas police said that Kevin had been dead for at least six days when he was found. WTF! Why didn't anyone check on him sooner??? Rest in Peace Kevin

214. To all the bad comments all I can say is karma is a Mother@!#$&%. You all have no respect. Quiet Riot launched Heavy Metal on MTV, PERIOD!
As for Kevin's Death. Even with the turmoil between him and Rudy Sarzo, Rudy still has enough respect to say he will miss his friend.
He will be missed by many!!

215. I think I was 24 when “Metal Health” came out, and the title tune was one I couldn’t stand and, at the same time, couldn’t get out of my head. I had no use for this genre of music after seeing (what I considered to be) the great bands of the seventies, but they were about rockin’, anyway.

It’s two weeks after he died and I just found out tonight while looking for something else. From what I’ve read so far it doesn’t sound like Kevin was much of a partier. I saw a special on Michael Hutchence and INXS once and didn’t think he was that far off the beam, either. Mick Jagger once said, "Seventies rockers are built to last.” Apparently not so for eighties rockers.

216. Sad to hear. Was never much of a fan, but at the Rocklahoma festival a few months ago in Oklahoma that I went to, he was belting it out just like he did 20 years ago.

Also, a few posts up there was a comment from "Britney's Dad" saying some bad things about Dire Straights and Twisted Sister. I support anyone making comments like this, but just wondering about the huge disparity between those two bands. I hate D/S myself, but just ignore them.

Britney's Dad - (probably the Mom), have you heard the TS songs that are not played on the commercial radio? Under the Blade, Tear it Loose, and such? If so, then peace. If not, check it out.

217. Everyone check out posting #8, the "Britney's Dad" posting.

Unbelievable, Even fans of the Spanish Inquisition, the Black Plague, and scurvy would be shocked.

Man, if someone knows she or it , it might be time for an attitude adjustment.

Hope it was a joke. Good God, someone died who had many friends and followers.

219. How anyone can laugh at, or get pleasure from another person's death is just disturbing. That was someone's child. Shame on you!

220. all of you people out there posting horrible responses such as "good, its about time, or that band sucked" should end up the same way as him. How could you say such things at this time. I didnt care for the bands music much, i listend to harder stuff, but im sure mr. dubrow was a very nice man and he did a lot of charity work, so lay off him! r.i.p. kevin and god bless your family.

221. My sincerest condolences to Kevin’s family & friends. QR may not have been the 1st metal band but they played a huge part in the huge explosion of its popularity in the ‘80s. Once they got signed to a major label and Metal Health went through the roof, many record companies started signing other metal bands. Glam/Hair metal bands owe a lot to them in particular. Like another person mentioned, I was in high school when it came out and our soccer team would crank up Metal Health before every single game. We played the crap out of that and Van Halen’s first album. Good times. And the videos were cool too, back when Music Television actually played Music Videos. Yes, kids, MTV actually used to play music videos around the clock. Shocking, I know.

For those wanting to see what QR were all about, I agree with the guy who mentioned US Festival 83. What a show - QR, Judas Priest, Triumph, Ozzy, Scorps, Van Halen. Those were the days. I’d love to see a DVD too. Count me in for a guaranteed purchase. Fortunately, I got to see QR several times in concert and met Kevin twice. He was extremely nice both times. He will be missed.

P.S. I’m encouraged to see that the vast majority of the posts have been positive. To the few that find a human’s death to be an excuse at sophomoric, bad humor, just keep in mind that you too will die someday and it’s highly doubtful that hundreds of people will be talking about it online. If you consider snide comments submitted behind a fake user name as your 15 minutes of “fame” then you’ve got bigger problems. I hope you’re enjoying it. R.I.P, Kevin. Rock On, World.

223. Suddenly, 'Winners Take All' and 'Thunderbird' come to mind.

Dubrow was one of the all-time greatest frontmen in the history of rock n roll.

2nd only to David Lee Roth, this guy had what it took to get a crowd going.

Saw him live 2wice, and glad I got his autograph.

RIP

224. Please show respect. You may not like the music, but respect the man. My wife and I met Kevin and his band a few years back, and you could not ask for a nicer, considerate person.
