NFL Star Taylor Dies After Gunshot

Sean Taylor, the Washington Redskins safety who was shot early Monday at his home in Miami, has died, according to a family friend. He was just 24.

The Pro Bowl safety had taken a bullet in his upper leg, reports the AP, damaging an artery, causing serious blood loss and loss of consciousness. According to his former lawyer, Richard Sharpstein, Taylor seemed to show signs of recovery when he squeezed a nurse's hand late Monday night, but never regained consciousness thereafter.

Miami-Dade Police are investigating the attack, which occurred when an intruder apparently entered Taylor's home, in what the cops are considering a possibly burglary.

16. Lord, I want to take the time out to thank you for blessing me and so many other fans of football, the opportunity to watch such a gifted athlete play a game that we all love. I ask that you keep his family friends and loved ones strong. Help them to hold their heads up in the face of adversity. I would also like to ask that you bless and keep the families of other fallen solders, men women and babies that are not known by the masses. In Jesus name I pray...Amen.

I just want everyone to take the time out to reflect on the good things that Sean brought to the Washington Redskins. One of the best hitters that we have seen here in a very long time. Old School Smash Mouth Football. All the purple tattoos that he would leave wide outs with after a catch. Even if they held on to the ball, they would remember that lick that they took from Sean. Its a very sad day for many of us.

With that being said please do NOT take your days on this earth for granted. Love your family and friends just as God loves you. I LOVE YOU ALL! GOD BLESS!!

17. Rest in Peace Sean. What a tragedy this is. A young man with a promising career, a growing family, a growing man period. This is awful and unfortunate and devastating. My heart and my prayers go out to Sean, his family and all of his loved ones.

I wish that people would stop disrespecting this man, who has just lost his life, in this awful time. This is not the time for judgement. Someone broke into his home where he was with his family, and took his life. Again, as Prileau said, Sean was a brother, a father, a son and a friend. May God keep him close.

18. I heard who ever did this cut the wires so the alarm would not go off and he could not call the police from the house phone. So sad how a person who had so much to live for was gunned down for probably something senseless. The saddest thing is that his one year old daughter will grow up without a dad.

I AM 21 YRS OLD AND I GREW UP KNOWING THAT A MAN SHOT MY FATHER WHEN I WAS JUST 2 YRS OLD ITS HARD FOR A CHILD TO GROW UP WITH OUT A FATHER. MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE CHILD, THE MOTHER OF THE CHILD, HIS MOTHER AND ALL OF HIS FAMILY. NO ONE CAN JUDGE SEAN LEAVE THAT TO GOD. HE LIVED A WONDERFUL LIFE FULL OF BLESSINGS,AND ONLY GOD KNEW HIS HEART.NO ONE IS PERFECT,AND NO ONE AS THE POWER TO DECIDE WHO DESERVES TO LIVE OR DIE. JESUS WILL BE BACK SOON FOR ALL OF US SOON. GOD BLESS,AND LETS STOP TAKING FROM ONE ANOTHER AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS JESUS LOVES US.

20. This is a mean spirited world we live in, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it more abundantly. The Devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. My prayer is that Sean Taylor's family and his Redskin family will find it in their spirit to forgive the person or person's that killed Sean. That this mountain of pain, anger and sadness, may God, lift up and throw into the sea and they know and never doubt that Jesus is real. I am a Redskins fan and I will miss Sean Taylor. I will continually pray for the Taylor family and his Redskin family's strength to get through these trying times.

25. It is rediculous that people are saying that he deserved this becuase he was a thug. Does anyone who uses this term even know what it means? It is always funny how a black man with a gun is a thug, but a white person with a gun is a concerned citizen. In his past he did go after someone with a gun, after they stole his car. So if a white NRA member did it, he would just be defending himself hugh? No one should die like that and have there family in danger, any jerk off that thinks he deserves it all I can say is he deserves it about as much as you do.

26. What evidence do you people have this man was a thug? Or, are you saying that simply because he's Black? Either way, why does it matter? He didn't deserve to have someone break into his home and shoot him. How would you feel if it happened to you or someone you love? Think about it. You people are so heartless and cruel it almost makes me wish evil on you. Almost.

27. #12 how is sleeping in your OWN home, in your OWN bed being a thug? Do you know what a thug is? The last time I checked, this young man went to the University of Miami, is the som of a Police Chief and has been in the NFL making $$$$ for the past 4 years. What is thugish about this? Is it because he is a person of color that makes him a thug? It is because he wore dreadlocks that make him a thug? Is it because he has had a few brushes with the law in the past that make him a thug? But has he killed anyone? NO! Has he been accused of selling drugs? Not that I know of! Plus all people have a right to live! Maybe you should do some self evaluation instead of worrying about Brittney & Paris!

My condolences & prayers go out to Taylor family RIP...And for those who say he was a thug are STUPID!!!! & IGNORANT!!! how was this man living a thug life???? he was a football player they came into his home and shot him. This was a man who was getting his life together for his daughter and he was at his home he didn't deserve this. Who ever thinks like that i'll pray for you to so you won't be so STUPID and IGNORANT.

30. Too many guns out there, many of them in the hands of criminals. Any crime, even minor ones, involving a gun should carry an automatic increase in the degree of aggravation.

My condolences to Mr. Taylor's family and all victims of gun violence.
