Celebrity Justice
Akon -- Toss These Charges!

Rapper Akon has pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and harassment, after allegedly tossing an underage fan off a stage.

Akon showed up at the Fishkill, NY Police Department today to be processed -- in advance of his scheduled 9:00 AM court appearance. He rolled up in a black Cadillac Escalade SUV -- natch.

The town justice released the 34-year-old singer on his own recognizance following his brief court appearance. Akon was told that he will not be forced to be present at future court appearances and his lawyer can stand in for him. His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, who has also represented P. Diddy, said in a written statement "It was never Akon's intention to violate the law. This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets."

The next court date is in January.

17. This is what happened. A kid in the audience threw a disk of some sort, and hit Akon. Akon then had the kid brought on stage, where Akon promply threw him off. A woman in the audience was hit, and injured.

18. What a total jerk, I saw the video and was shocked. What is up with these crazy singers tossing kids off stage. If it was my child tossed off stage, I'd have a wealthy kid, I'd send a message so loud and clear about America's legal system, nasty singers who like to hurt their audience, and how easy it is to get every dime Akon has.

19. No intention? Spontaneous? Is it ok to pick up and throw minors, (anyone) suddenly? If someone is being an ass, toss them out...but not literally. Der.

23. Well said #15. Why do the newest wave of rappers seem to be so thoughtless. Seems like they think they are allowed to do whatever, whenever. Thats really sad considering so many young, impressionable minds are for whatever reason drawn to their music. The true talent meter has hit rock bottom with these thoughtless buffoons.

24. Just because he didn't intentionally do it, which, by the way, is a load of crap, does not mean that he is not guilty. He had no right. Security could have escorted the kid off the premises, but no, the retard had to show the world what a big man he was. All he ended up doing was showing the world what a loser he is. Wake up a-hole, we already knew.As for cloe redman and LaTresa, you two are idiots. Would you be defending him so quickly if it was your kid or if it had been a black kid. Nice try.

26. Did not know the color of the kid, but thanks LaTresa for the add
Guess that makes you the prejudice one.

Color has nothing to do with right from wrong anyway. Called bad behavior.

27. Hey #17 LaTresa, I guess you never heard about WHITE Quarterback Drew Bledsoe when he was with the Patriots? He was at a concert and jumped off the stage(stagediving) and injured some people very badly. It was a big deal and he got sued. Or when the Beastie Boys threw a bottle into the audience and it injured someone. It was a big deal. They got sued. And Sebastian Bach...........Stop making everything into a racial incident by pulling the race card. Akon was wrong.

28. it is was say garth brooks and he lets say tossed a black kid it would be called a hate crime and sharpton and the media would be all over it and noone would be standing up for the performer another example of double standards.

29. you know last second choice or not, he still could have kill that kid. he could have fell on his head and broke his neck or something. yeah you can claim people stage dive all the time, but its their choice, no one is tossing them off the stage without permission. the fact that it was a last second choice is the fact that could have killed him the most. if he had stopped and thought what am I doing, or what will this cause, the child would not have been endagered with death. life is precious. and its taken as easly as with a last second choice. and a broken neck. im an akon fan. but im NOT a fan of what he did, and what he could have done, thank god what could have happened didnt happen

30. racial comments shouldnt even matter here, I thought we were growing out of that fad...*rolls her eyes* doesnt matter what color anyone is. if they break the law. or hurt someone in anyway they should own up to it, or be held liable. everytime someone famous gets into trouble there has to be some people throwing around oh if they were white, oh if they were black, how childish can anyone get. shows your either young, or very uneducated.
