Akon -- Toss These Charges!

Rapper Akon has pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and harassment, after allegedly tossing an underage fan off a stage.

Akon showed up at the Fishkill, NY Police Department today to be processed -- in advance of his scheduled 9:00 AM court appearance. He rolled up in a black Cadillac Escalade SUV -- natch.

The town justice released the 34-year-old singer on his own recognizance following his brief court appearance. Akon was told that he will not be forced to be present at future court appearances and his lawyer can stand in for him. His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, who has also represented P. Diddy, said in a written statement "It was never Akon's intention to violate the law. This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets."

The next court date is in January.

31. LaTresa watch the video before you talk about something you clearly are uninformed about. Your an idiot and defending him because he is black and so are you. Your lack of proper english makes it evident what race you are. He did it in anger and if it was a white entertainer throwing a black teen it would be a different issue. Reality is its not a black white thing its a proper and improper thing. Not everything is color driven hate to tell you. Unfortunately white people are to cowardly to stand up for whats right and make people realize its not about back and white or least whites dont make it about black and white when two races are involved. He is a criminal and hurt people and should be injail just like we would be. And be in court just like the rest of us would be required to.

32. Obviously Akon is guilty at the very least of some low grade assault charge. Thats not what got my interest. Listen Closely!!!!! AKON IS NOT A RAPPER. EVERY BLACK ENTERTAINER THAT STANDS ON STAGE AND HOLDS A MIC OR SOMEHOW ENTERTAINS YOU IS NOT A RAPPER. HE IS A SINGER!!!!! If you and your site has ANYONE that had a clue about a segment of the music business that dominates the charts and American Culture you may have know this little fact. Why don't you hire someone that knows something about black music (Blacks in Hollywood for that matter)and doesn't deal in stereotypes. If you're gonna muckrake; At least get it right. Idiots
