Celebrity Justice
Gary Collins Headed for the Slammer

TMZ was in an L.A. courtroom today as a judge told Gary Collins what his next hosting gig would be -- a jail talent show! The TV host pleaded no contest to DUI charges and was sentenced to 96 hours in jail.

A judge told him he could do his time at any city jail (Glendale perhaps? Super fun cellmate!) He was told his jail time would be at his own expense, and he is not eligible for work furlough. He was also sentenced to four years of probation, fined $500, and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service (that's a lot of trash!). He must also pay restitution to the victims, enroll in an 18-month alcohol education program and attend 26 A.A. meetings -- at least two per week. We're told he's already attended 18 meetings. Go Gary!

Gary Collins: Click to watchCollins was arrested after crashing into a car driven by an 89-year-old man in October. That man, we're told, is still in the hospital.

47. So will they now pull all the informercials this "convict" is out pushing on primarily the elderly? Get rich quick scams with this boozehound skirt chasing has been as the spokesperson just wont carry the same validity they may have before his, um, "incident".

Wondering when that former Miss America from 1960 something or other is going to kick his dumbass to the curb. She better do it quick before the hospitalized guy comes to, and starts suing Collins. Take the money and run now Mrs Collins. Gary was a phony and you probably knew it for years.

Serve your time sir...do your AA meetings and Public Service---but do please do the Public the greatest Service of all---------Quit pushing smokescreen bs on the TV to innocent people who either cant afford it, or dont need it

Go away quietly to the former actors retirement home

49. I thought the old man cut him off. Gary's only crime was for wearing shorts that high above the knee. It shouldn't have been legal even for Magnum P.I.

50. The 89 year old man's name is Warren Gates, hes going to spend his 90th birthday in the hospital. Hes actually not expected to survive, the left side of his brain is dead.

Whats actually pretty odd about this entire situation, Gary Collins was not found at fault for this accident. The police report, from witnesses, states Warren turned in front of Gary and caused the accident, Gary just happened to be drunk. The man blew a .21 alcohol level.

52. Is Gary Collins going to lose his TV endorsement advertisements? If the Dog, Imus, Richardson, etc. lose everything (so to speak) the fact that Collins almost killed a very old man who still is in hospital certainly is criteria to kick his butt off television!! I do wish him well as alcoholism is a disease..but doesn't give him the right to get behind a 3 ton car and mow an innocent person down...

54. who cares? There is no perfect person in the world, so it is common to do wrong thing. But the one who have a higher status will have lower punishment, it is so unfair. But to my surprise, I saw many more famous celebrities have been punished seriously on tallfriends.com/photo/tallgirlhiven.

55. Ok Gary was wrong and he will be punished for his actions.
But do you think a 89 year old man should still be driving?
the reason i say that, is because in some retirement communities
people over 75 are going trough supermarket windows daily.
And guess what they are not drinking.
Again only in the good USA can you be 89 and drive without ever
being retested!

56. I always liked Gary but I just cannot understand why these people don't hire a driver. They could save themselves alot of grief. Sooner or later, these stars are going to kill someone
because they were drunked.

57. Not just lose his infomercials he also has a hosting gig on RL TV’s Now Playing up for grabs. Actually, his show isn’t even listed on www.RL.tv anymore, so that might be true. A lot of people have lost far more from doing less serious things. Even if the other guy was at fault, there is no excuse for drinking and driving. Hope the old guy gets better and Gary learns a lesson.
