Lets Get This Party Started
Brit Bailed Out by Photog

You can add one more thing that the paparazzi are doing for Britney Spears: Paying for stuff that she doesn't bother paying for.

Us reports that a photog actually went back to the Chevron in Sherman Oaks, Calif., and shelled out the $1.39 for the cigarette lighter that BritBrit filched on Friday. "[The manager] didn't want me to pay for it at first," says the snapper, Shane Partridge. "I told him it was no bother."

Don't encourage the girl to smoke, y'all.

Oprah Gets Down Down South for Obama

Hillary who? The biggest female on the campaign trail is, without a doubt, Oprah Winfrey.

The talk empress went out for what were putatively campaign stops but turned into rabid, full-scale rallies, especially in South Carolina, where 30,000 people filled a football stadium to see the O&O show, a record. Oprah even got 8,500 people to show up at an event in New Hampshire – are there even 8,500 in the state?

Party Favors: "Compass" Opens with Not-So-Golden $26 Mil ... Random Icelandic Teen Calls Into White House Red Phone

The much-hyped "Golden Compass" won the box office, but pulled in a disappointing $26.1 million, falling short of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" as December fantasy releases. A minimum of $30 million was expected, and no word on how much Christian protests were to blame. ... A teenager from Iceland got through to a private White House line, reports ABC News, by posing as the president of Iceland, and paid for it – he was detained by police and questioned, though not charged.

16. I've never been an Oprah fan. I don't watch her show. I don't go out of my way to escape her influences...but I don't tune in either. It obviously doesn't matter because she is filthy rich any way...and good for her...

I don't like for celebs to use their status to influence the "sheep of America". I don't like it when Tom Cruise does it and I don't like it when Oprah does it. I agree with many that she may regret this later...of course unless she ends up as a cabinet member. After all we've had a movie star president, Cali has a movie star governor...and doesn't one state have a former wrestler as a governor? Perhaps she plans to parlay her support into an appointment. hmmm interesting...

17. Lets face it people. If we really listened to who these celebrities campaigned for, George Bush would not be president. So lets not go and believe that because Oprah is into politics now we are going to vote for who she is behind. I think not. And to be honest, I think Americans are probably more likely to vote for a woman, than a black man.

19. Oprah is an extremely smart woman.
She also knows how dangerous and evil Hillary is -- and I'm sure that has a part to do with her pulling for Obama.
Hillary is as bad as Bushis for this country.

Thank you Oprah!!

22. Oprah, I am a fan of yours but not of what you are doing. (But you have every right to do it.) Yesterday, I saw just a small clip of your stump speech for Obama and couldn't have disagreed more. You were saying that some people think Obama doesn't have enough experience. Right. Then you asked the audience (rhetorically) how THEY might like it if someone told THEM this wasn't their time. PUH-LEEZE!! Wow, that's so flawed!

There are lots of people who do all sorts of things successfully that people tell them they shouldn't or can't do: getting an education, getting an awesome job, writing a great book, etc. etc. But those are PERSONAL achievements and we are entitled to the pursuit of happiness.

HOWEVER, Obama's pursuit of his happiness does not affect just Obama. It AFFECTS THE ENTIRE COUNTRY, THE ENTIRE WORLD!! So, while I would never try to stop anyone's pursuit of what they want, your hyperbole will not make me vote for Obama for that reason. My life, my future, and the lives and futures of millions are not about one man's quest to realize his dream.

Sorry, he does NOT have enough experience. He didn't even serve one lousy term in the Senate before he started running. He's a great orator, esp. compared to Bush (anyone would be!) but I do NOT think he's the person to make this world better. NOT NOW. Maybe down the line.

Oprah, your speech had the exact opposite effect on me than the one you wished. I feel more opposed to his presidency than ever!

23. I love Oprah-BUT it won't sway my judgement on politics.

24. to. d.a. that was my point. People dont vote for who celebrities back. I didnt say they backed Bush.

25. I am sick of hearing about Oprahs "star power." Anyone how would let a damned celebrity influence who they vote for is a nitwit with little sense of themselves, not much of a self thinking adult. On several occassions i have caught Oprah endorsing something and it turned out to be unreliable information, or an outright scam. She may not mean to endorse a scam. However, her reaserarch people on her show obviously arent good researchers, Who with brains would listen to someone like that,, especially when it comes to voting? Im sorry, but I dont think Oprah is trying to endorse whom she thinks is the best candidate, She is endorsing Obama becaseu she wants to see a black person win, period, which is the wrong way to think,. If a person is good for the job, I dont care what race he is, But endorsing a person of a certain race because of his race is just damned wrong. Anyone hating me over this statement , too bad. its the truth.

26. OPRAH SHOULD STAY OUT OF POLITICS AS IT IS NOT HER ARENA. SHE SHOULD STICK WITH TV TALK SHOWS WHERE SHE HAS HER FOLLOWING AND STAY OUT OF ENDORSING ONLY BLACK PEOPLE! COME ON NOW, HOW PATHETIC, IF OBAMA WAS A WHITE MAN WOULD SHE BE ENDORSING HIM! I BET YOU NOT!
DIDN'T SHE ALSO PROMOTE DR. JAN ADAMS ON HER SHOW! THAT WAS A GOOD CHOICE, HUH!
STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW BEST OPRAH AND DON'T PUSH YOUR LIKES ON OTHERS!

Posted at 1:06PM on Dec 10th 2007 by OH COME ON NOW!

27. Clinton and Obama are going to shred each other in this race. Now that Oprah has made this personal, it's only going to divide the dems more. The Republicans couldn't have asked for a better scenario but there is no one in that race either. This is the first time I can say I don't like any of the candidates in either party with the exception of Senator Biden.

Regards

28. I'm from Iowa. Lots of coverage here. I could not believe Oprah's speech yesterday. Where did this slightly southern and ethnic voice come from? She doesn't sound like that on her show. I know what she is doing and I don't like it. One bit.

29. All you Oprah worshippers don't realize she is one of the most racist people in America today. Just look at her past record. Her and AlSharpton would have made a better match..........

30. I stopped watching Oprah years ago. Just like the lowest common denominators will flock to conspiracy theories and form militant groups in the woods, Oprah followers have given up free-thinking, passing the task onto her. She is too full of herself and hopefully this latest stunt of trying to get a particular person elected (like a favorite book) will backfire...She has really gone too far...Just like spending millions and millions (and millions) of dollars on a school that holds only a handful of students. She has lost perspective. There is no reason to take her opinion as gospel, folks.
