166. MiMoMo, Wow, Thanks for your very informative comments. Everything you said makes sense. Having not "partied" in many years, hopefully I'll remember your words next time I'm tempted to return to old ways.....You may have saved my life. Too bad we weren't there for poor Kevin.

Thanks again,
Jett

167. Hey Jett !

" If you have no self worth whatsoever only a brush with death will satisfy your vanity"

We act according to our perceived self worth. Cocaine use fills a hole in the soul with a delusion that is sheer emptiness. It mirrors our anxieties, and like a jealous rival, vies for our affection, demanding total attention. Coke's siren song, her constant lament is always 'What have you done for me, lately?" If anyone, John Entwistle is certainly the poster boy for cocaine's jealous penchant of stealing the limelight, snuffing out the great fiddler's life on the eve of the Who's comeback reunion tour. Curious that bandmate Daltry is alleged to have remarked that at least 'The Ox' went out in style rather than withering away, an old man. Whatever...

Perversely, neither health nor wealth offer any protection from this bandit. Google 'cocaine death' and you'll find athletes, fitness trainers, champions young and in their prime, taken without regard. Only earlier this month, sweet Irish lass, super model Katie French collapsed at a friend's home after imbibing. Seizure preceeded heart failure and led to irreversible brain damage. Despite her being among "friends", it supposedly took over 8 hours to bring her to hospital. Coke buddies are notoriously lacking in administering timely assistance in these kind of situations. Many cases abound where coco compadres leave their blowmate for the vultures while cleaning off the plate before absconding with the remaining stash. Short of having a personal EMT on standby with a defib machine at the ready, most likely, you are on your own.

Finally, cocaine combined with alcohol metabolizes into cocaethylene, itself, an even greater threat than cocaine alone. In fact, the cocaine & alcohol combo challenges the infamous 'speedball' (cocaine & heroin) in unpredictable lethality. JazzMaster Miles Davis purportedly devoured upwards of a half ounce daily while swimming in booze, suffering numerous strokes & finally spitting up blood at his last gig, curtain call at 65. Now, that's one tough hombre!

I belabor this bitch because for some reason, Dubrow's deed is personal with me. Like a soldier losing his buddy in a war, I'm left to wonder why it wasn't me, instead. Such is not mine to know, rather it is my duty to carry on and 'feel the noize'. Damn you Kev and bless you at the same time, too!
Take Care, Jett.

169. Drugs are a way for people to feel good and forget their troubles. A way of escape that you can buy and use. Sadly when people become addicted many of these peple never fully recover from their addictions, some even have many addictions. You may ask why do people do drugs? Or how can they do that to their bodies, or that they are stupid! Well the addiction is a driving force, a force that from the inside, drives you to do what your addicted to. It is nearly impossible for a true addict to quit by willpower alone. Hats off to those who have! Casual use is considered ok in their minds because they are not overusing. I am saddened by Kevin Dubrows death, many happy memories for me, while spending time with friends listening to him scream out the lyrics of "Slick Black Cadillac". My heart also goes out to all the addicts who are not in treatment right now. Thanks Kevin for all the good times I had listening to your music.
