Prosecutor to Scott Weiland: You Were Hopped Up!

Scott Weiland has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction, and with an allegation that he refused a chemical test as required by law.

In a statement from Los Angeles City Attorney spokesperson Frank Mateljan, Scott faces "maximum penalty of one year county jail and a $1000 fine, and a minimum penalty eight days in jail (because of the prior conviction and the refusal to take a drug test). His car could also be impounded for up to 30 days. "

He will be arraigned tomorrow in a Los Angeles County court.

On November 21, the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer was arrested, when he crashed his car while driving on an L.A. highway.

A rep for Velvet Revolver tells TMZ that the band's show tonight at L.A.'s Gibson Amphitheater is still going on as scheduled.

32. This guy sucks. I remember hearing a few years ago that he vanished a few days before an STP concert in Alaska or something like that.
Apparently, they were the first band in years to go there (mebbe that town, state, arena, who knows) and do a show, but he pulled a no-show... He turned up a few days later in Vancouver.

After that I decided that I shouldn't (nor should anyone) support a guy that lets his fans down like that. Just for a buzz...

Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails pulled that crap too a few years ago, and he can kiss my ass as well...

35. Man I can't belive this!! I thought he was so much smarter then this... I guess not. I love Scott, but he can be such and idot. If I were the judge I would send him to jail for a year then send his ass to reheb for six months to a year just cause of his history.
Come on man get clean. The last time you went to reheb you could have lost your wife and your kids, I was hoping you would learn from that. If not that then at least the death in your family...
I hope he gets himself cleaned up, it would be ashame if he died now he's my hero in music and he has a great voice. That and I don't wanna hear my dad say "told ya so."

36. I would have cared back when Scott Weiland made good music, though halting drugs has said to be the downfall of a lot of good music (take Metallica for example) obviously continuing them just leads you to join the washed up members of Guns and Roses and make mediocre crap.

37. It's a shame to hear some of your comments. Yeah maybe Scott's got some issues, but what rock, rap, or pop star doesn't? At least STP and Velvet Revolver has some awesome music, and that's more than you can say about a lot of bands or artists with the same problems.
