"Real" Househusband Tries to "Quiet Demons"

Matt Keough faced off with an OC judge in court today, but his arraignment on a DUI probation violation was postponed. Now he may be blaming his tragic ballpark accident for Matt's troubles.
TMZ was inside an Orange County courtroom where "The Real Housewives of Orange County" star was supposed to enter a plea for violating his probation -- by drinking in a Newport Beach hotel.

Today, family attorney Dan Grigsby recounted to TMZ the cruel twist of fate during Matt's baseball career sent him on a downward spiral.

Back in 1993, Matt was playing for the Angels. He was sitting in the dugout when a player for the Giants connected with the ball for a bullet foul, striking Matt in the right side of his head. Matt underwent brain surgery and that's when his substance abuse problems began.

Grigsby said Matt began self-medicating, adding, "He's trying to quiet the demons as a result of the brain injury."

The arraignment was put off until January 14.

16. "12. This guy has lots of problems. Get off his ass."

Again, oh please. You don't VOLUNTEER to appear on a REALITY SHOW unless you WANT attention.

It's too late to whine about people being on your ass after you have freely invited them into your life.

17. he got a TBI (traumatic brain injury) that messes you up for life and can totally change someone's personality. It's an awful injury to have and people's lives often go to hell afterward.

18. #15 That's horse crap! He's just using this lame excuse to get his ass out of trouble. These morons posting in support of him must be friends and relatives that condones and support this type of reckless behavior.

Let me guess. He was abused by his parents when he was a child? That's another lame reason why it's ok for him to drive drunk an badly injure people??

19. I know a few people who have brain injuries who don't drink. Drinking is a choice. It is unfortunate that this happened, but it is by no means a way out or an excuse. People handle problems and stress differently and his way just happens to be a POOR choice. Only a brain dr can make this call, not a TMZ poster.

21. I knew a family whose son became head injured. His mother blamed his agression on the injury. It was convenient for her to forget that he was agressive before his injury.

22. I have yet to read an accurate comment on here. semi-accurate, yeah. but that's where it ends. First off, it was'nt over 20 years ago (not that the timeline matters). His marital relationship was on the rocks for awhile (whose does'nt when you have an alcoholic as a spouse) and why should she have stayed miserable putting her kids thru that?. Which brings me to Drinking..at the get-go it IS a choice but alcholism is a DISEASE you crackheads! And it's apparent from his past, that is what he is. He needs help and if people want to wish him luck, why be a jerk and knock 'em for it. I wish him luck and his family.

23. I had a friend get a serious head injury over 20 years ago and it totally changed him for the worse! He is super aggressive and suffers from seizures now as well! I am one of his few friends that he has left, but I understand him and he knows he does not intimidate me. He's always cool to me and has gotten a little less aggressive, but even how he just talks to most people scares the hell out of them. I also have a medical background, so I understand how these things work. It is well known to be one of the biggest risks facing people who have suffered head injuries. Anyone who thinks this is a bunch of made up bull has no idea what the hell they are talking about and in some ways should be happy for they don't know first hand!

24. T. Marie....it becomes a disease after one makes that CHOICE to pick a drink up in the first place. It is kind of like which came first...the chicken or the egg? In this case....one has to start drinking before it becomes a problem...therefore it is a CHOICE initially. Not here to argue with anyone...yes, it's a disease.

25. To you 'experts' out there who doubt how serious this is, do some research before you speak.:

If you do not feel like clicking on these links, then google head injury and aggression. I have known my friend for almost 35 years now and to make things worse, no company will give him insurance because of his pre-existing seizures and medical conditions, including psychological ones. Luckily, his family has some money, but he is basically screwed now. He can't even drive a car, or ride a bike either because of his seizures.

28. The local newpaper here in Orange County, CA (The Orange County Register) reported today the Keough"s want their privacy now. WHAT! They didn't want their privacy when they let TV cameras in their home to record every private moment, and all their embarassing family fights! outrageouse-they were are so cruel to each other-if your own family treats you like dirt-no wonder the dad sought solace in the bottle. All three kids are so rude and mean. That behavior was learned from how their parents treated each other. They're all in it for the money and the image- what image-they're now the laughing stocks of the world. I only hope the injured bicyclist sues them in a civil suit and takes away what they hold dear-their money.

29. The Bravo website on the Real Housewive show received so many negative and critical comments about all the housewives, they announced last year they would only accept positive blogs, and not print any negative remarks. So much for freedom of speech! Everyone hates all these witches and how they have squandered all they were given, and how they all succeded at one thing: raising selfish, whinney, mean , rude kids who are not even ashamed to go on TV and show what stupid, useless (human beings?) animals they are.
