Hannah Montana Contest Winner a Fake

Hannah MontanaA 6-year-old girl won four tickets to a Hannah Montana concert in New York with an essay that claimed her "daddy died this year in Iraq." Heartbreaking? Yes. True? No.

Priscilla Ceballos, the mother of the young girl, had told the company sponsoring the contest that the girl's father died April 17 in a roadside bombing in Iraq. When the spokesman asked the girl's mom if the story was true, the mother said no. God bless America.

"We never said this was a true story," Ceballos told FOX 4 in Dallas. "We do essays all the time. My daughter does essays at school all the time. It never did say it had to be true, but [the contest organizer] said, 'That's what we expected.'" Duh!

Club Libby Lu, the company behind the contest, has not yet made a decision as to whether the girl will get to keep the tickets.

UPDATE: Club Libby Lu has released the following statement on their website: "Club Libby Lu has been evaluating the situation surrounding our Hannah Montana Rock Your Holidays Essay Contest and is extremely sensitive to the fact we're dealing with a 6-year-old little girl. We wanted to take ample time to gather all the necessary facts in order to make an appropriate decision regarding whether or not we would award the Hannah Montana concert tickets and other prizes to the Ceballos family.

After awarding the grand prize, we unfortunately learned that the statements made in the essay were untrue. Club Libby Lu greatly values honesty and integrity. In order to uphold these values, we have decided to withdraw the award initially given to the Ceballos family.

Consequently, we will award the prize to another winner already identified. With this decision, we hope to revive the intended spirit of the contest, which was designed to make a little girl's holidays extra special. In order to protect the family's privacy, we have decided to not disclose the name of the new winner."

181. apparently you all have never studied the atrocities and crimes america has committed to be the super power that we are today america has lied deceived and betrayed to gain position. i personally dont care what we had to do to get here i would do it all over again in a heartbeat. so all this mom and girl did was find a way in how to get the upper hand applaud them in their creativity (morbid or not) i think the mom has a lawsuit right in the palm of her hand the company said themselves that there is no rule or regulation about a false story they just assumed everyone would write a story that was true and in relation to themselves but without it being in writing we all know the legal consequences of that, and all the people who had a relative or sibling die in war dont get personally offended cuz then all that shows is ur lookin for someone to blame last i checked u have to b an adult to list in the military so dont put your frustrations on the back of a 6 yr. old girl she is the definition of the real american dream

182. I think the whole situation SUCKS. Honestly lets be honest....setting aside that she flat out lied and taught her daughter a poor lesson. but you cant get hannah montana tickets for under $500 a peice. Because ALL the SCAMMERS that bought them all up for 50-150 each and are now making $800- $1000 EACH ticket for those who can afford it!! I certainly cant and it is sad that these people are not the ones that are really punished for there horrible behavior. It is a sad truth that this world has come to this....Hannah montana is a great rome model for young girls! It is a shame that she has been stolen by all the scam artist who continue to get away with it. These are the true LIARS and Heartless animals in this world. This mother was probally although misguided was JUST TRYING to MAKE HER DAUGHTER HAPPY. I think ALL of us can relate to that! We all make mistakes....hers were just on TV.

183. As a Desert Storm Veteran, I'm HIGHLY offended by this so-called "Mother." Not only is she teaching her young daughter to be dishonest, she's tainting the sacrafices "real" soldiers have made. I don't buy the crap they thought it could be fiction - she's a fraud and should be punished just for being STUPID

184. Watched the interview on NBC this morning with Priscilla: So now you're the victim ?!?!????? Well, BOO HOO - cry me a river. The so-called apology might be better received if it was actually sincere and you didn't have to have a Lawyer & Psychiatrist by your side to deliver it - you're not only a bad role-model - you're a coward as well and I don't feel sorry for you. And I have to agree with Matt Lauer - you didn't "refuse" to take the tickets - they were "DENIED" !!!!! If you stayed out of the media and stopped playing "Poor Pitiful Me," this would blow over and you could move on with your life as you say you want to. Grow up and move on.

186. I agree that what this mother did was sick and absolutely inconceivable. However, as a parent of a 7 year old, who has had to rip through every web site.......... pay for all of them....... just to get a second chance on tickets that were sold out in less than 93 seconds.......... I think that Disney should at least bear some responsibility. I had given up on getting tickets for my daughter, and had told her that Santa Clause cannot do things like that. I ended up getting four tickets, but I will tell you that I am NOT looking forward to going. My husband and I had both written to her fan club (that we had to pay over 40.00 for) as well as my daughter. We received NOTHING! I also have an 11 year old son. Upon writing an honest post to his favorite NFL quarterback, we received an autographed pic! I understand that this girl is overwhelmed, but at the same time, her parents and Disney need to be responsible for over 2 million little girls who feel as though they "are not good enough." This is what society is doing to our children! My heart goes out to that baby girl! She had NO idea what was going on, and yet....... we have ripped what she believes to be her whole world out from underneath her. If I knew her address, I would graciously give her my ticket! That little girl should be able to see Hannah Montana!

187. Now I hardly doubt that a 6 yr old actually wrote an essay. Think about it, she's either in Kindergarten or 1st grade. My kids weren't writig essays at that age and my 12 yr. is just really starting to write.

I think that the mom needs to write an apology essay to everyone that entered the contest honestly.

188. LOL I've read some stupid crap but if it had been about any other untrue event then no one would have said a thing. They just don't want to admit that the content not the essay got the girl the prize. 98% of all the essays turned in where fake made up story's really I cant remember the last time I read a completely true essay! Fiction sells more!

189. First of all 6 year olds dont write essays, if ur 6 your just barley comming out of kindergarden and learning your ABC's im not saying its not possible but think about it and then for the essay to be about something so dramatic and be the winning essay? i dont think so. second of all what bussines does a 6 year old have attending any kind of concert?

190. I am still just disgusted by this. Every child in America pretty much wanted those tickets and I am sure most parents would have loved to have gotten them, but with all the nasty people out there the ticket prices were outrageous. But for someone to stoop as low and telling their daughter to lie about something so horrible is just completley insane. I would have done anything to get those tickets for my 5 yr old, but nothing that stinking low!!! There are many children out there who have lost their daddies or mommies in the war and deserved that little piece of happiness that the liar stole.
And for the people saying what 6 yr old can write essays, many can. Here in kindergarden you learn how to read and write. My daughter isn't even in kindergarden yet and she can spell many small words and just asks me how to spell anything she doesn't know how!!
