Nic Cage: Treasure Buried in Bel-Air

Nicolas CageNicolas Cage may be too preoccupied with box-office receipts to worry about a little ol' housing slump! The L.A. Times is hailing the nepostar as a "savvy investor." But that statement is a little premature, and not quite the case.

The reality is: Cage purchased his Bel-Air mansion in 1998 for $7 million and in 2006 decided to put the hideaway on the market for a whopping $35 mil. The move would have given Nic a sweet profit -- if only the place had actually sold! After a year on the market (without lowering the price), the mansion remained without a buyer. Cage finally decided to take the house off the market. That move was the only savvy part about this situation!

Movie stars may not have been affected by the slump, but the rest of the nation has! Reality check, please!

20. BO WEEVIL. Here's something I am sure you would be interested in, since you have such appreciation for the ethnic fabric of our world, indicated by your loving use of George Jefferson's favorite word, Honky:

21. 11. I can't stand Nicolas Cage. Seriously, he can't act and thinks he's Elvis. The ONLY reason he ever got a start was that he's a Coppola.

Oh, it's thrasherbetty, the person who denigrates without thinking or doing any research. I disregard your opinion based on the shallow nature of your other posted opinions.

Nic Cage has worked much harder on his acting skills particularly BECAUSE he's a Coppola, and has never wanted accusations of nepotism to cloud his integrity and achievements. (something your ilk will never appreciate nor understand.) Do you not think for ONE MINUTE that the Coppola family wouldn't hold him to even higher scrutiny thus standards because of what they do??? Your thinking is shallow and moronic.

It's no accident that Cage is scoring big box office. He has clawed his way through decades of hard work into a true leading man and big box office draw. He has his own following, like Eastowood, Seagal, Norris, plus add any whose interest is snagged by the movie trailor content. Cage's repertoire, however, is not limited to action flicks evidenced by his fine performance in Matchstick men. I re-watched 'Face Off' the other day, and 'got' his performance. I challenge you to rent and watch all of his movie list on IMDB, search Nicolas Cage, and come away with anything but admiration and a deeper appreciation for his work. He is not classically good looking, and got lost in the last decade or two behind the big box office pretty faced leading men, but Nicolas Cage is THE dogged and determined tortoise who won the race. His work is becoming exquisite and extraordinary, even if 'Treasure' is a holiday family oriented action flick. I'm glad it's done so well, as it will again free him up for other, edgier work. His work in total speaks volumes. He's becoming a great, I tell ya....get reacquainted with Nicolas Cage. I have, and am pleasantly shocked.
