Hitler Story Heil of S**t

A big entertainment news service is beating itself up after it helped spread that whole misconstrued Will Smith-as-Hitler-apologist mishegas.

The World Entertainment News Network issued a formal apology to Smith, saying that the "erroneous and dangerous statement attributed to Will Smith about Adolph HItler being a 'good person' ... was false and misleading." WENN says it takes "full responsibility for the dissemination" of the story and offers Will "a sincere apology" and deeply regrets "the personal stress" caused.

WENN had picked up the misrepresented quote from a Scottish paper, which has yet to retract its report.

18. I didn't need to read this apology to believe in Will Smith. I NEVER believed this story from the beginning, and I'm very sad that so many people DID, before even giving Will a chance to rebuke this indeed dangerous accusation.

19. Will Smith-VINDICATED! Now all you fools who argued that he was for S-hitler have been proven to be the fools that you are! He should also go after TMZ simply because of the sheer amount of readership they have. So are we supposed to allow these ragpaps to say whatever the hell they want about someone and then issue a small, quick retraction and just say 'Oh, my bad. You can't sue us because we retracted it.'? Harvey's a Lawyer, so he had to have known what he was shoveling out. TMZ being so huge is likely to be the one that started all this mess outside of Scotland. TMZ is starting to get sloppy and as one reader pointed out somewhere else, maybe running a TV show AND a blog is too much to handle.

22. I hate to write this but I think TMZ spread false stories on Will Smith, and this may very well have an
negative effect on his career.

23. I READ THAT STATEMENT AND MR SMITH IN NO WAY INDICATED THAT HITLER WAS A GOOD PERSON. THE STATEMENT WAS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT AND SOME FOOL MADE A BIG DEAL OUT OF NOTHING. SUPRISE SUPRISE

24. I would not comment on this story because I thought it was a bunch of crap. Will Smith has done very well in his life and is a very giving person. Alot of people called him all kind of names without really knowing the facts. The man is a stud and a real good person!!

27. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read or hear. This was OBVIOUSLY a flat out and damaging lie. People need to check and recheck and then check again before printing or saying something that could be so hurtful and damaging.

28. Not only did TMZ run with this ridiculous story, but they kept it at the top of the page even as they added other stories beneath it. Even the quote as they printed it was a partial statement pieced together to make it as damaging as possible. Lets see how long they keep it at top this time.
