A big entertainment news service is beating itself up after it helped spread that whole misconstrued Will Smith-as-Hitler-apologist mishegas.

The World Entertainment News Network issued a formal apology to Smith, saying that the "erroneous and dangerous statement attributed to Will Smith about Adolph HItler being a 'good person' ... was false and misleading." WENN says it takes "full responsibility for the dissemination" of the story and offers Will "a sincere apology" and deeply regrets "the personal stress" caused.

WENN had picked up the misrepresented quote from a Scottish paper, which has yet to retract its report.

49. Hitler's Political Testement (Will), dictated minutes before his death, clearly says that his greatest accomplishment was to rid Europe of the Jews. He said that he would be remembered for this above all else and Europe would be geatful someday (yes, he was a $%^). Mr. Smith (if he said it) would be correct that Hitler thought he was doing a good thing. That's in no way excusing it but just pointing out that we can delude ourselves that wrong is right. This is a nice guy (Will)...what's he done to anyone but try and give us fun movies. I am just surprised that you all seem so upset by an 'observation' that in fact is correct.

To Jessica and Wow: I do believe I live in America, and in America, we have this ting called freedom of speech in which we're aloud to say whatever the hell we want and not get in trouble (besides like in school and parental restirctions and at work and whatnot, but in general this works). So I think since I have that right I think it's pkay to say that, along with your rants. I do like how you say I need to get an education and a life (baisicly) and I actually do have such things: I've been on honor roll every year and i have lots of friends and I think my parents raised a sweet girl who knows what;s going on in the world and is able to comprhend the meaning of the stories. Thanks for trying to help though, but no offense, you arent my mothers. and I'm obviously not a retard because of my fabulous grades.

and i do agree with that one person who said GO OBAMA or something of that sort. he's my fav! Liberal Dems 08!
