Dr. Joyce to Phil -- I'm With You, Bro

Dr. Joyce BrothersTMZ just spoke with the woman who practically invented TV pop psychology, Dr. Joyce Brothers, who says Dr. Phil acted appropriately.

Brothers said, "According to what I read, she did not ask Dr. Phil to come to her ... I'm not sure if that's so, but I don't know either one of them. Therapy is enormously helpful and important. If she can be helped by it, and Dr. Phil can get recognition for the importance of therapy, then a lot of good can come of it."

Dr. Phil has been slammed by a number of psychiatrists who told TMZ it was completely inappropriate for him to inject himself in Spears' medical crisis.

46. Britney Spears and danny bonaduce can both get a place together and just go away. Nobody realy cares if either gets and stays clean or not. They would be a perfect couple, maybe they will OD together and do us all a favor.

47. If he is actually trying to help Britney then I say go for it. That female needs all the help that she can get. But if he is just doing this to get air time from it then I think that he should get lost, because like I just said she needs all the help she can get.

52. All I can say is that at the end of an extremely difficult and stressful day that I am sorry, but I have never laughed so hard in months from so many of these comments. I wish Britney well, as the laughter is not at her in her time of distress but for crying out loud who what on earth is going on with both of these nut cakes--Dr. Phil and Joyce? Psychologist's or not, wouldn't they have the common sense not to give a group therapy session on national television and intrude on Britney or anyone else when they are in a so called private mental health facility such as the Cedars of Sinai Mental Health Wing?
