I can understand that Lynne asked Dr.Phil to go, and I even believeit (mostly because she is the original media whore mom) but a responsible and good doctor will do what is right fot the patient, things like checking with the pyschiatrist in charge (although truthfully we don't know if he did or did not do that), he would consider the impact his invovlment would have as well. It is fairly obvious that a large portion of this girls problem is that she seems to have lost a sense of self, she reminds me so much of Micheal Jackson. Perhaps it is not Bi-Polar, has anyone else noticed that anytime a young person is closely scrutinised by the media from a young age they turn out to be VERY strange adults? That is not a normal way for a human being to grow up. Sorry, I got off track there, I ws trying to say, given that she is obviously confused about her status as a person because of constant media attention, Dr. Phil should have realised that having a dr. show up at the hospital who represents and would attract media was not in her best interests.

Yes, he was asked by the family to go, but that doesnt mean he SHOULD have gone. And once he did, there was ZERO reason for him to make press releases or try and get her on his show.

Also to others....I KNOW he is a real doctor, but he is not a good one, he has always only been out to make a buck (just run his name through wikipedia) and he is not qualified to make a medical diagnosis (for example bi-polar), only a medical doctor can render that decision.

The intervention, I want to throw my opinion put there on that one (I do have one) but I really don't know alot about that process, it does seem strange to me that if an intervention were to take place, it would take place when she is already in a hospital and it owuld be a celebrity doctor that hasnt reviewed her files (Im assuming) and that wants her to make a public (and stressful, particularly for her) appearance. It seems to me that if there were to be an intervention the staff involved in her case would do it. But again, I don't know alot about interventions.

229. dee...I didn't know that about being about to share info. hm...It was Jamie Spears that was there the night she was admitted wasn't it?

Who knows, there is alot that happens that the public does not see.

So perhaps it wasn;t the hospital, but still calling a media figure for help (especially when she has so much money she could afford the best doctors in the world) was not the best thing for a parent to do.

231. Well any help or resources he has, looks like it won't happen. It's a shame the family has no rights to have her treated. The girl is on a spiral downhill. How sad for her kids.I bet we can all agree on that one. Those babies are the most important thing.

232. Hey 171. I DO have a remote, and my TV is not on the channel when he comes on, @ 3:00. Whenever I see him coming on, any channel. I either walk out of the room or change the channel. I know her family asked him to go see Bri, but when he got there and she did not want to see him. HE SHOULD HAVE LEFT. WALKED AWAY. Does he do that? NO. He barges in, and starts in on her. Then follows her to her vehicle. If everyone would back off, and let the girl have some breathing space. Get w/a good Dr.. She will get better.

233. Again, SHAME ON YOU "DR." Phil!!! You have no business "treating" Ms. Spears OR her family members because you are not an MD Pyschiatrist or licensed Psychologist, and the only reason why you've thrust yourself into the spotlight is to massage your own ego and so you could say that YOU were the one who "saved" Britney. It's exploitative and you should be embarrassed. I don't care if Lynne Spears has contacted you or your wife! You have no business making public comments about it. You are also meddling with someone who is very ill and could cause even more damage. It is HIGHLY inappropriate for you to become involved before she has been diagnosed and has begun some sort of treatment.

I knew what kind of person you were for a long time and was amazed that Oprah gave you your own show and that it achieved any amount recognition whatsoever. Your faux "Dr." title is misleading and now you have been exposed. If I were you, I'd keep my mouth shut. If you were a real doctor you'd know what HIPPA was. Sincerely, Liz RN

235. What!.. Dr.Phil said.. he was contacted by Spears Family a year ago... If so, it sure took the family sooooo long to work on Britney! What a nut family! Dr. Phil is just using this situation to help his rating no matter what! I think so.

237. He's been working with the family for a year? Geez - in the last year, Britt has lost custody of her kids, had a complete meltdown, whores herself out like lindsey & paris, and her little sis got pregnant at the age of 15. Imagine where the family'd be if he hadn't been around.........

238. Dr. Phil only wants to get richer.. notice how many books he has, his wife now has a second book too, his son Jay has too many to count. He is pushing his whole family into it. Phil is now promoting his son's Jay new show, a second one, his first one home renovation (with pshychology something it) only ran 2 episodes and was cancelled, two years later Phil is pushing him on TV again.. Phil get it, Jay has no talent, have you not read the book? Britney is just another tool for him to get publicity. Which book can you recommend Britney reads. Oprah, Please Please get that money hungry guy off TV,.. you can do it.
