Dr. Phil Pulls Plug on Britney Show

Bending to public pressure over his Britney Spears intervention show, Dr. Phil has canceled the program scheduled for tomorrow.
Britney Spears and
In a statement on his site, the good doc says, "As was widely reported this weekend, at the request of concerned family members, I visited Britney Spears in the hospital. The details of that visit will, of course, remain private. We had planned to tape a Dr. Phil Now show today, focusing not on the tabloid side of Britney's latest problems, but instead on the very serious issues surrounding this case."

The statement goes on, "Clearly, it is not just Britney's family struggling to find a way to protect adult children who cannot be ordered or compelled to seek help. Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping at this particular time. Britney and her family are in our prayers, and we ask that they be in yours."

287. Dr. Phil is:

Doing the right thing?
Saving his own ass?
Is an ass? X

288. Phil USES sick people to get a leg up. Anyone who would listen to anything he offers needs help. He's a fake and a fraud. He's a psycologist (PhD) not an MD. IMHO, not a very good one either.

289. Dr. Phil's people made a smart move here. There was too much outrage about this. Britney needs professional help but in private, not out in the public eye.

290. I wrote about this sicko when his paid show's groupy's bus crashed. I asked TMZ to investigation Dr. Phil past. Do I have to spell it out. He had to pay big $$$ to get rid of his fat diet lawsuits. All of the woman who have been abused by this man. Its in the courts records. Public Records. You exposed Dr. Adams. By the way what did Dr West die of? Follow up TMZ!

291. No wonder Britney is a whackadoo... The only people in the world who aren't out to exploit her .. are her children.

How much money has Lynne or her husband ever made on their own?

Dr. $hil is an unethical SOB.

292. I agree Dr. Phil is a publicity hungry moron..........The only difference between his show and Jerry Springer is that Phil controls his guests a little better.

293. Dr. Phil - well if he was a true profession, he would have known not to do what he did and would have told Britney's family he couldn't see her unless requested by the patient. This wasn't a "let me help save Britney" - it was for his own good, publicity, money, fame. The so-called doc is truly a selfish moron thinking no one would have known or been offended by his arrogance. I think he needs a little self help in decency.

294. Good! She needs help, but Dr. Phil isn't the place to get it. This post pretty well summed up my thoughts on poor Britney lately:

At the risk of sounding like Chris Crocker... She needs to be left alone...

295. This is probably why the girl has so many problems now. She was so huge and her career was absolutely soaring until that low life Federline came into her life. He was obviously a gold digger with absolutely no talent. Get a life mom Lynee. You are a money hungry low life too. And who is actually placing two young boys with Federline? A real jackass obviously. Dr. Phil, get a life.... Brit, pick yourself up girl and show those no good dirt bags that it is all about you...

296. Dr. Corn Pone "suddenly" realized that everybody was kicking his sorry ass. After his little"intervention" I decided to avoid his program. Some shows could be funny but after his $$$$$$grubbing attempt to jump in and feed off this young woman, I change channels to the other local news. Boycott is the way to deal with him and his Okra creator. Interesting....these people think they are powerful. One day of these blogs and they turn tail and run. People need to stop being sheep and realize that Power to the People needs to be reborn. Get rid of these maggots. He's made enough $$$$$$and so has his Benefactress Her Highness Oprah. Time for something new and original, just like we need a change from the grinding politicians we are all tired of. Time for change. Send these money grubbing celebrity dogs out.

297. To Vintage '51: I agree - "each day you just get a little older and life becomes more complicated." Life is such a struggle. I only hope that as Spears' kids get older, they will be able to handle the negative publicity about their mother they will encounter. I hope the same for Danielynn. It is so hurtful and tough to deal with. They are so innocent and so precious.

I am an only child, and my parents should have divorced, but did not. Dad was an alcoholic my entire life. Belonged to AA, but went through the motions for the most part. Mom always told me they stayed together so I would have a mother and father under one roof, and could provide me a better life than had they divorced. It made me feel guilty they were miserable on my account. At the age of 33, I had been married and living in St. Louis for 11 years - they were still married! I finally figured it out their misery was not my fault. I had been gone 11 years, and they were still married. I told mom it was their decision to remain together, and her reasoning did not apply to me. She never said this to me again.

I dearly love kids and always wanted two. Was married 14 years, but had no children - wasn't meant to be. I hope Kevin, Britney, and Larry Birkhead will find someone to share their life with, and not only create a loving "home" for their children, but provide them with the security all children need and deserve when they are met later on with all the negative publicity to come. 299. According to wikipedia's page on Dr Phil: Ethical violation The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists imposed disciplinary sanctions on McGraw on January 27, 1989 for an inappropriate "dual relationship" reported in 1988 by a therapy client/employee from 1984. McGraw was ordered by the Board to take an ethics class, pass a jurisprudence exam, complete a physical evaluation, undergo a psychological evaluation and have his practice supervised for one year in order to continue his private practice in Texas. McGraw admits to giving the client a "job" at his office (which is not allowed), but denied carrying on a sexual relationship with the 19 year old, who says their relationship was "sexually inappropriate."[10][2][11] As of 2008, McGraw is still not licensed to practice psychology.
