Brit Off to a Mental Hospital?

Sources tell TMZ the "responsible" people in Britney's life are trying to convince her to voluntarily enter a mental hospital.

We're told there's now a consensus -- she'll never get custody of her kids unless she undergoes intensive, in-patient treatment for what appears to be a severe bipolar disorder. But we're told Spears is resisting and does not want to enter a hospital.

And sources say that since her release from Cedars, Brit has "pulled it together, at least on the surface." She is coherent and engaged, but will not voluntarily enter a mental facility -- at least for now.

79. Drugs do not cause Bi-Polar Disorder!!! However, it was reported that she had ADHD and the two are often diagnosed together. She will not enter a hospital herself because she probably has no clue when she is acting badly. Without drugs, she will continue to act that way and the media needs to give her space because they are making it much worse.

80. People is reporting that Kevin is in lockdown mode with his kids. He does not want the kids exposed to any media frenzy and even has his phone turned off. Good for him. I'm glad he has security as it wouldn't surprise me if Britney tries to break into his house. Those who bash Kevin should remember how he supported her when she was in rehab. What else can he do but go to court to keep custody until she gets help? Those who criticize him, ask yourself what you would do? He could just throw up his hands and walk away, but he loves those kids regardless. He is under alot of stress too, but you don;t see him acting out or irrationally. He may not be the best guy in the world, but he is trying to be a good father.

81. she really needs help. I don't know why she would not want to do anything to get her children back or why she would even want to lose them in the first place. I really believe this has a lot to so with postpartum depression.

84. PsychProf said something on another board this weekend that has made me stop and really think.

If Ms. Spears tested negatively to drugs, then drugs cannot account for her behavior. If the hospital staff did not feel she was a "danger to herself or others," and she was let out of the hospital, then the HOSPITAL staff must not think she is suffering from a dangerous mental illness.

That leaves another possibility. She isn't SICK at all, not drug addicted, not mentally ill and pathetic as we've all imagined she is, she's just acting out in a large way to draw the attention back to herself because her sister was moving to the front of the stage at the Spears Family Theater.

And if that premise is true, she would SELL HER CHILDREN'S attachment to her to get back into the limelight?

Is that even possible?

88. obvious reason she doesnt want to check in to a hospital....if she does, it certifies in her mind, that she is mentally ill...she'll wear that label for the rest of her life...she'll feel that people will always look at her like a freak....she'll be given medicines that will take away her highs and lows...and believe me,,, that is not a great way to go thru life..but the biggest reason is that the people she'll talking with in group therapy will be drug adicts...detox cases....mental patients...and that will depress her even more.........but she has to do it...,,the main reason she has to go is to get her meds balanced...if she doesnt, she will stay in this downward spiral and never see her kids...the toughest and scariest thing to admit is that you have a chronic disease and potentially fatal one (as in suicide), if not treated...britney truly has to reach rock bottom before she'll admit she has a problem...she's close but she's not there..

89. Ok..........Britney did not test positive for drugs or alcohol. Now is the time to have K-Fed tested for everything.......why has he not been ordered to do so before now? I believe he is solely to blame for the downfall of Britney.....what a sleeze! I realize Britney needs help but why does HE have the children????????? He is pushing her to insanity in order to get money from her because he cannot support himself.....
