TMZ has learned family members and professionals in Britney's life are working as a team to get her mental help -- either voluntarily or involuntarily -- for treatment of what appears to be a severe bipolar disorder.
We're told it's going to happen one way or the other, and fast. So far, Britney refuses to commit herself voluntarily, but the team is persisting.
Sources say they are considering "a number of options," some of which are "creative."
The most extreme option -- going to court and getting an order forcing Britney into in-patient treatment. That would be the last ditch effort.
If involuntary commitment is the only option, Brit must be picked up by cops -- again -- on a "5150," meaning she's a danger to herself or others. Then, while she's in the hospital, health care professionals can go to the County Public Guardian, who can then go to court and ask for what's called a "conservatorship." The conservator would then basically assume control of Brit's life.
If the judge grants the conservatorship, Brit could be involuntarily committed to a mental hospital. Again, that's not the only option and various alternatives are being discussed right now.

i think it would be great if she did get some help but i also have to see something to believe it...... does anyone know the chances of her getting joint custody back if she cleans up????

He did NOT betray the family nor Brit by publicly stating that she needs help.
He did NOT make public what was said between himself, the family members, and Britney.
He had the JAM to force the people who are close to her to step up to the plate and quit ignoring the proverbial pink elephant standing in the middle of the room.
I rarely have the time to watch Dr. Phil's show but it seems to me that he has done the right thing!
When he defended Lynne and Jamie Lynn last month, after the pregnancy announcement, I didn't notice a spokesperson chomping at the bit to claim he had no right to make that particular public statement...did you?
Now, the bigger question is...will TMZ give Britney a chance to heal, not to mention her ex-husband, their two young sons, and the rest of the Spears' family?
I highly doubt it.

Who gives out such detailed information? One could only assume that it is somebody "close" enough to the family to know so much. How sad that they are using Britney's hardships to benefit. Now wonder the poor girl is losing it, apparently there is NOBODY to trust.

Good Luck Getting her committed involentarily... The LAWS in this country give the SICK person ALL OF THE RIGHTS to DESTROY themselves as we're seeing here! When will WE do something about this? She's VERY ILL and she has the RIGHT not to get help! I'd say our system is a MESS!!!
I agree that something has to be done but don't you think it's dumb to print this?? I am SURE that Britney reads these sites (if not, others that know her do...giving her the heads up that family is planning an intervention is a BAD idea and will only hurt their efforts! STOP TALKING ABOUT HER!!
X17online is reporting Britney has left on a private jet with Adnan ,how much you wanna bet she's headed for the Bahama's ?They'll never get me there ,is what she's probably thinking ....then again who knows what she's thinking .
