Spears Fam Attacks Phil: You Totally Betrayed Us!

Jamie and Lynne Spears slammed -- and we mean slammed -- Dr. Phil this morning, calling the way he handled his contact with Britney a betrayal, inappropriate and a total breach of their trust.
Lou Taylor: Click to watch
Spears family rep Lou Taylor told Meredith Vieira on the "Today" show that Dr. Phil actually broached the subject of doing a show about Britney, but that they nixed the idea, only to have Phil try to set up the show anyway. Taylor scorched Phil, saying it was even "inappropriate" for Phil to bring up doing a show, and that the family thought it would be detrimental to Britney.

What's more, Taylor said that the family felt "betrayed" that Phil would issue any kind of statement after meeting with Brit, and that nobody had given him any authority to say anything, much less bellow on and on like he did.

It's a total smackdown.

271. Of all the qualified psychologists and therapists in the world that their money could buy (and I am assuming they could afford anyone), why would they choose a celebrity like Dr. Phil? Something tells me there is more to this choice than meets the eye.

272. Dr. Phil's behavior is not a big surprise. Dr. Phil lost his license to practice psychology in 1989 because of Unethical Behavior.

"The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists imposed disciplinary sanctions on McGraw on January 27, 1989 for an inappropriate "dual relationship" reported in 1988 by a therapy client/employee from 1984. McGraw was ordered by the Board to take an ethics class, pass a jurisprudence exam, complete a physical evaluation, undergo a psychological evaluation and have his practice supervised for one year in order to continue his private practice in Texas. McGraw admits to giving the client a "job" at his office (which is not allowed), but denied carrying on a sexual relationship with the 19 year old, who says their relationship was "sexually inappropriate." As of 2008, McGraw has not completed the conditions imposed by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists, and he is not licensed to practice psychology."

273. Why all the hoop-la over Dr. Phil when the real problem is a pop star on the way down who needs help? So sad that no one seems to be able to help her. From all reports she is "hell on wheels". Someone needs to tell that girl that there is an old Hollywood Rule "Never sleep with anyone who has less star power than you do". Or how about the one "Sleep with dogs and get up with fleas". She will find out the hard way (i.e. nude photos being shopped around to all the papers/mags).
