Celebrity Justice
Juiced Jones Gets Six Months

A judge has just sentenced disgraced Olympic champion Marion Jones to six months in prison. Gimme that medal!

Jones, who recently returned her three gold and two bronze medals, had begged a judge to keep her out of the slammer. The 31-year-old former runner and long jumper was one of the most celebrated female athletes in the world -- until it was revealed she routinely used performance-enhancing drugs.

She recently admitted to lying to a federal investigator in 2003, and confessed that she took steroids "several times before the Sydney Olympics and continued using it after." What a role model.

16. It's a bunch of BS...she comes clean..and has her name forever shamed and removed from the record books and now gets 6 months jail away from her two kids as a reward while all the baseball players who have been doing it and lying about it for years get a pass? what she did was wrong but she shouldn't be treated any differently than all those "heroes" who went to Congress and denied up and down that they NEVER used steroids. Nice justice. She didn't have to come forward and she did...now you have to wonder if she shouldn't have. Will keep her and her sons in my prayers.

17. You can't lie to a grand jury. It's that simple.

But wait, If this is happening in California, land of the great legal system, where she'll get sentenced to whatever number of days in jail then she will do 17 minutes and out she goes.

I knew back then she wasn't clean. No one is. You can't get those kind of times without using something. There are so many athletes that aren't clean, it would make your head spin.

18. The drunk driver who killed my brother got community service and she gets six months? What a crock!

19. So... doesn't the silver medal winner/s now become the gold medal winner/s and the bronze medal winner/s become the silver, etc., etc.?? I mean, doesn't that make sense?

20. She should've though about her kids before she lied to federal investigators.
Anyone who has sympathy for this fraud is a little off, IMO.

21. I don't feel sorry for her, she shouldn't have lied in the first place. At least she won't be on the talk show circuit crying, for another six months.

22. Use the Bill Clinton defense, he lied under oath and got.......uhmmmmm, no jail time.

Posted at 1:00PM on Jan 11th 2008 by If u were bill clinton, you wouldnt go to jail!

23. I think when you get to the root of the problem, perhaps during the Olympics the American panel that is responsible for watching for doping should have done their job, and not tried to hide it. You always heard about other countries punishing their athletes when they where checked for drugs. It appeared that Marion was above reproach.

24. well maybe she can serve her timein that california jail (Lynwood?) the one that michelle rodriguez and paris spent their time in...she'll be out in 2 days because they have that "overcrowding" policy.

25. Where is Al Sharpen? Surely this s another cause to pull the race card. She is a minority and should not have to be punished based on her skin color.

28. Tim, girlfriend is BROKE. Check fraud was bad enough (which she also got whacked for) but she purgured herself in federal court.

So no doubt she'll serve time at Club Fed. Had she told the truth she may have gotten probation or at the very least 2 months. (less if she rolled on other folks)

What some don't quite get is that in a federal investigation, your a s s is grass if you don't roll or tell the truth, they will get you on something even if its non related ( BONDS is next)

29. It will be a real cold day in hell before this government can get another athlete to speak the truth and why should they, the government has NO business in the sports business . Take care of the freakin country idiots.

30. Yea, but will her 6-months in jail be 47 minutes because of over crowding?
