Church to Gawker: It May Be Crazy, But It's Ours!

The Church of Scientology is doing what it does best -- and we don't mean rant against psychiatry.

Lawyers from the house that L. Ron built have sent a copyright infringement letter to the Suppressive Persons at Gawker Media to get them to remove their copy of the crazy Tom Cruise video making the rounds. All the letters in the world won't make it seem any less crazazy!

Gawker Media, which runs the Gawker and Defamer websites, posted the letter they received from a law firm representing the Church. In the letter, they allege the tape was "stolen from one its Churches." It probably just got scared and ran!

For their part, Gawker says they did nothing wrong -- and as of this posting, they have not taken down the video.

TMZ posted a few excerpts from it today. We'll keep checking the mailbox for our letter.

24. I can see why they want it gone because I watched the whole thing and it made me kind of uncomfortable.

At one point he says - 'you're either on board or you're not'. That made me think of George W. Bush saying - you're either with us or you're against us. That kind of attitude always scares me somewhat.

Whenever anyone is interviewed about what Scientology really is (like Tom or John Travolta or Lisa Marie Presley), they blather on and on about levels and ways of thinking, but they never really TELL YOU! And if you ask me, any religion that has a "Celebrity Center" is no religion. To actually single people out and give them their own building... especially the rich celebrities... PUH-LEASE! I'm tired of hearing about Tom Cruise and I wish people would just start ignoring him and paying to see his movies and then we'll see how "famous" he is. And no one's going to make me believe that Katie has willingly become a part of any type of Scientology movement. If she has, she's done it under his encouragement (read CONTROL!).

29. I've listened to the tape, it just sounds like he is devoted to this way of thinking, he didn't look carzy to me. The tape was edited, and if thats his belief so what? Some people have a cow god, eceryone should have a right to believe what they want, even Tom. BTW, I still think he is cute.

30. If it's a "religion" and he is "preaching the word", then what do they have to fear. If it's a cult, as I believe, then of course they don't want their tactics revealed. Lunatics are usually afraid of being exposed.
