AP to Britney: We Have Your Obit Ready to Go!

Britney SpearsBritney Spears hasn't died, but the Associated Press has an obituary already written, should something happen to the "at-risk" former pop star.

TMZ spoke to AP Entertainment Editor Jesse Washington who confirmed the news. Washington told Us Weekly, "We would never wish any type of misfortune on anybody and hope that we would never have to use it until 50 years from now, but if something were to happen, we would have to be prepared."

It is not uncommon for news organizations like AP to have obituaries prepared for high-profile people -- the unusual thing is that they're usually prepped for the very sick or aged.

21. This is just sick and wrong. The paps are the ones who will probably cause her death anyway. Her shenanigans are publicity stunts, although you do have to be a little off to take it this far. However, imagine having a crowd the size of an elementary school student roster chasing you around all the time. Enough to make anyone bat$*it.

23. Britney's in enough trouble without the media CONSTANTLY making a circus out of her life and PUSHING her closer to the edge!! I was flipping through channels the other night, and I bypassed FOUR stations with all-out news conferences regarding her court appearances. Nothing ELSE going on that we need to know about. No other people in trouble; nothing important going on in THIS country.

The "public's right to know" has gone TOO FAR!! Princess Diana is dead because of this BS.

This is just sick! No matter what you think of Britney's behavior, she's person in deep trouble, with a need for psychological help and you are just adding to it by putting her more at risk for your own profit.

SINFUL and a disgusting commentary on what is important to people! SAD. Terribly sad.

24. I think it's very sad. I brittney does need to straighten herself out yes indeed, but I cannot imagine living with the pressures that famous people do everyday. I mean I think in alot of the pictures that have been shwn of her I think she is scared and lost and that is very sad. Sad that no one is there for her to get through to her.

25. I agree, Kassy. I think she is faking the whole scene for attention. However, she's such a nut, she might actually try and do it. Ya never know with this one.

27. that is just sad... the girl may be troubled, but she doesnt deserve things like this.

28. Yes, that is what they do when they get a feeling a high profile person will not be here much longer.
The sad thing is, when she dies her family is going to be interviewed crying and saying things like "we should have committed her no matter if she didn't want to or not, we could have done more" and on and on and on. So don't wait until this happens Spears family...do something NOW while there is still a chance!

29. I think this article is very irresponsible of TMZ. It's not funny to kick people when they are down, and hopefully whoever decided to post this article will not have the misfortune of having someone treat them the way they are now treating Brittany. I can no longer feel good about visiting this website.

30. This shows how everybody see's a deadly downward spiral of a young woman. Can not the courts step in and have her commited for her own safety and the safety of others?
